‘Writing’s On The Wall’ by Sam Smith, the official theme song from Spectre, performed live on the Graham Norton show.

Lyrics:
I’ve been here before
But always hit the floor
I’ve spent a lifetime running
And I always get away
But with you I’m feeling something
That makes me want to stay

Unprepared for this
I never shoot to miss
But I feel like a storm is coming
If I’m going to make it through the day
Then there’s no more use in running
This is something I’ve got to face

If I risk it all
Could you break my fall?
How do I live?
How do I breathe?
When you’re not here I’m suffocating
I want to feel love
Run through my blood
Tell me is this where I give it all up?
For you I have to risk it all
Cos the writing’s on the wall

A million shards of glass
That haunt me from my past
As the stars begin to gather
And the light begins to fade
When all hope begins to shatter
Know that I won’t be afraid

If I risk it all
Could you break my fall?
How do I live?
How do I breathe?
When you’re not here I’m suffocating
I want to feel love
Run through my blood
Tell me is this where I give it all up?
For you I have to risk it all
Cos the writing’s on the wall

The writing’s on the wall

How do I live?
How do I breathe?
When you’re not here I’m suffocating
I want to feel love
Run through my blood
Tell me is this where I give it all up?

How do I live?
How do I breathe?
When you’re not here I’m suffocating
I want to feel love
Run through my blood
Tell me is this where I give it all up?

For you I have to risk it all
Cos the writing’s on the wall

If the idea of “James Bond” could be summed up in one song, one melody to capture all the drama, all the suspense, all the romance, all the broken hearts and life on the edge, it would be this masterpiece written by Sam Smith. Using an orchestra is perfection, with all the crescendos and decrescendos that reflect the emotional roller coaster James Bond characters experience as well as the audience watching on the edge of their seats. Sam’s voice can only be described as a gift from the gods. This song covers me with goosebumps in the first 5 seconds. Beyond amazing. And kudos to Graham Norton for having a stage that can allow this masterpiece to shine as it should. His sound department is top-notch and the way the stage is setup and captured by the cameras is like you’re in a beautiful dream. Wow, wow, wow!!

Existential questions from Sam Smith:  how do i live?  how do i breathe? how do you sleep? how do i know what you’ve done?  how do i dance with a stranger? how do i promise?  how do i pray? how do i do money (on my mind)? how am I at goodbyes? how do i sing one last song? how do i la la la? how do i burn fire on fire? how do you make me crazy?  how do i make you stay with me?

Here after just finishing ‘No Time to Die’ and let me say, this sound could have easily fit the theme for this most recent movie. Listening after just watching NTD makes it hit different. Sam Smith’s vocals never fail to amaze me.
