ATAK is one of the most powerfully complicated mapping and communication tools ever made. In the past it has been hard to obtain, hard to install, and hard to configure, as described in this video:    • Move, Shoot, and Communicate with ATA...

Today, however, it is available on the Play Store, there are numerous plugins and map sources to add, and we will walk you through getting started.

  • Meshtastic and Meshtastic integration with ATAK needs to be on the hit list.

You know when you're trying to figure out how to disassemble an obscure firearm or set up something that isn't super mainstream so you find a video from a guy in like 2006 filmed in 440p that is exactly what you need? This channel will be that for future generations.

This (new) channel and the podcast are rapidly becoming some of my very favorite content to consume. Well done Isaac and team.
  • I would love to see the ATAK implimentation using a LoRa meshtastic network. Great video!

South African here. Our community policing is coming together. ATAK has been mentioned as a possible co-ordination tool. Our last operation involved a raid with local police on a location that was fairly large. We did used google maps to identify possible escape routes and we split to cover but our control of assets was very loose. While we did make 18 successful arrests we also lost some of the fast movers due to limited communication with the drone operators and the very basic nature of our strategy. Due to our cell networks being very unreliable and cover limited, if we use this tool we will need mesh networking. We may also need tiers of op data where mission command has an uncluttered overview of our groups while each group has more detailed information of their sectors. Finally, radio comms integration, possibly tiered again where group leaders have better comms with command and the drones and their groups are able to communicate amongst themselves without interference. The groups being able to see every member as well as other groups leaders location or better yet able to toggle the amount of friendly units one is looking at might be helpful if that is an option. Thanks.
  • A video (or 2) showing how to completely decentralize ATAK. No outside communication, only intra mesh network encripted comms/map sharing. This is top priority to me.

You should get together with Ham Radio Crash Course to show how ATAK can be used off line with Meshtastic to communicate in emergencies. And more on how to de google your devices running these applications.

I would love to learn how to integrate my Meshtastic network into ATAK. I specifically use Wisblock and have several nodes. Thanks! Keep up the great work guys!!

I’m an old school comms guy who’s developed a real interest in meshtastic/atak implementation. Please consider more in depth “how to” install and utilize this all together. Thanks

Would love to see more about integrating ATAK into small unit tactics. Using it to move in a specific formation without direct line of sight. Also using it to navigate complicated terrain, designating zones of fire. Oh and integration with Meshtastic as someone already mentioned. Can’t wait to learn more. Great video.

An episode on meshtastic information would be great

Didnt even know the labs channel existed. I have been looking at ATAK stuff over last few days, S2 underground is a great resource too. I have played with ATAK thinking about usecases: my family is going to a festival, how can we keep tabs on where the kids are, where the tent is pitched, the car parked etc. Next, its a field how can we communicate if no mobile data? (Meshtastic for example). Another use case was for replacing life360, to keep an eye on family and when they arrive at school, worl, home etc. I think having a use case and then walk through and/or homework would be great to help us learn how to use. Next I want to learn how to add camera feeds from static and drone cameras, like US forest fire service somewhere - that way I can set up a nice command portal to keep tabs on HQ(home), my CO(wife) and SpecOps(Kids). Keep up the great work Trex arms, labs and everything else

I spent 5 years in the Corps, all of which was in UAV squadrons. Been rolling around the idea of making my OWN UAV for years now and I now think integrating this is an absolute must. ATAK + a bird with ArduPilot + Meshtastic...could be REALLY awesome. Video series, anyone? 😁
  • @MikeJones-sn7kc
The effort and professionalism put into these videos is so encouraging. Great job, guys.
  • @TotalKiller247
An episode detailing how to setup and use meshtastic and hammer alongside ATAK in an offline/offgrid environment would be absolutely amazing.
  • @motoenduro8585
Super helpful. Downloaded it after your first video and used it last week to help develop my pace count. Marked off 100 meters and confirmed with trip. Thanks
  • @ihn
Thank you Isaac for this great tutorial, helps a lot to get a better understanding on ATAK. Please go on with this and dig deeper in ATAK and the ecosystem around it.
  • @jasonpiazza4037
Love how you hint at the complexity of adding TAK servers into the equation. Good stuff.
  • @lostboys2819
Providing the community with emergency response resources through Atak has value. As in a hurricane, tornado, flood. How to build a network on a budget, creating a community to communicate with, utilizing a drone to extend reach if needed, etc… appreciate the dedication here
