Lets take a tour of some things around our town that you might have been scratching your head over... Perhaps you're thinking of moving to or are already living in Reno, Nevada - here's a fun piece that's not just another "best neighborhoods and restaurants" video! We'll wrap up with a visit to O'Ski's pub for a craft beer in Sparks, Nevada.

This is the place to learn interesting things about Reno, the state of Nevada and the American west! I've lived in Reno for 37 years (as an adult!). I've had a lifelong interest in history, and spend much time exploring and researching this wonderful area. I started this channel to share some of what I've learned. I produced a full-length documentary film on the history of Reno's Harolds Club casino in 2015.
Perhaps you're thinking of moving to Reno and are looking for background on the area, or you're already a resident and this content might help give you a sense of place. I shall endeavor to cater to both groups!
I'm also a craft beer enthusiast, and thought I'd talk about some of that scene here as well. I started homebrewing in 1992, and earned the Certified Cicerone designation in 2015 - this is a sommelier-like program for beer people.

Please subscribe, share and come along with me on this journey! Thanks and cheers!

Steve

I moved to Reno on July 4th of 2001 and left October 31th 2007. I loved this city and miss it dearly. This vid stirs wonderful memories of the wonderfully unique area of the world. I'm so happy to have finally discovered your channel.

John Ascuaga’s nugget used to have two resident elephants. Bertha and Tina. I liked going to see them when I was a kid
  • Moved here with my wife and 2.kids in 1996 and plan on staying here until I die. We have never found a town or state better to live in.

Have you done a video on one of the oldest buildings in Reno???? The old post office building!!! You should do a video on that cool old building!!

These videos are so fun, thanks for making them!
  • I loved this video! It reminded me of the Liberty Bell which was a 2nd home to many clampers! Clampers of course being members of The Ancient and Honorable Order of E Clampus Vitus!

I wanna say the Adventure Inn was razed around 2007 or so.

I've lived in Reno my entire life. I do love this city no matter what some may say. Yeah, it has changed. But it is a great place to live when compared to other great places to live.

The giant spider statue. I remember it being moved to or from the bug house? Well, I took a gander and looked it up. Spider bug is safely on top of a building near Last Chance Joe's current residence. Cool. Of course the article I read was from 2015. Hopefully the "spider" with two missing legs is still on top of something.

My wife & I have made numerous visits to Reno from Atlanta after our son & his family moved there from Truckee 10 years ago. After hiking the Sierras, visits to Virginia City, Carson City, Lake Tahoe, Pyramid Lake, museums, the river walk, etc., I'd begun to to wonder if there was anything left to see in the area until I found this channel. I now have a new list of places to visit. Nice work.

How about the old Tamarack Ski Resort off Mt Rose hwy? You can still see the old sign near the decaying Reindeer Lodge

That was fun to watch. You know what I never understood? That metal structure down on Neal Rd by 580.

Add the Santa Fe Hotel to your next one, the little place on lake street surrounded by Harrahs because they wouldn't sell. A tour of the submarine engine in the Harrahs basement for the back up generator would be cool.
  • I loved this presentation. Remembered them, but I took the Ball Park Service Station for granted. Thank you!

I love your content, Steve! What a gift to us folks who live in Reno. Keep it up!!

I'm no longer a Reno fan, but I AM a fan of this video! Really neat and very cool! Also, I'm a fan of Pigeon Head Brewery and their Pilsner, which is one of my all-time Top 10 favorite brews!
