The criticism this video received is NOT justified whatsoever. Why? Firstly, many people complain that this is stereotyping, that they didn't show India's skyscrapers, modernization, etc. Coldplay didn't show this because EVERY developing country has these. No Coldplay wanted to show India's unique, richly diverse culture, and they did so through this video. Second of all, people are complaining that this video misrepresents India. Okay, yes they did. So? They have already went to great lengths to make sure that all the content shown in this video respects Indian culture, and personally I see nothing demeaning about their culture, either. THIS IS A MUSIC VIDEO, NOT A DOCUMENTARY. IT IS FOUR MINUTES LONG. Can you expect them to get everything exactly perfect? No. Are they misrepresenting India? Yes. Is it in a bad way? No. Did they show and respect India's culture, its beauty, and its roots? Totally.
