The scene where her and Ty Lee are greeting Mai is even sad to look back on now because Azula actually sounded genuinely happy to see her again. It just so sad they had a massive fallout....

the scene where they both betray Azula is so pivotal and impactful and iconic. They chose love over fear, friendship over control. But in doing so they also broke Azula, because as horrible as she was she genuinely cared for and thought of them as friends, probably the only people in the world she trusted and viewed as her equals. She just couldn't convey that and saw it as weakness so she used fear and aggression to control and manipulate them.

It's really ironic of how Azula can defeat most of the benders either physically and mentally but got defeated by her best friends who are Non benders in mentally (Mai by saying she loves Zuko more than she fears her) and physically (getting Chi-blocking from Ty Lee)
