To anyone that tells you "tracing is cheating" or any of that nonsense, remind them that you always use the tools to your best advantage. Sure, you can probably draw a straight line free hand, but it's better to use a ruler or a line tool. Same principle here.
  • Tracing a pose or a gesture is not bad and it's alot more helpful than observing your subject far away that will make you vulnerable to draw out of proportion or missing the mark. Utilized the tools that currently available today don't demonized it.

Thanks for the advice. I keep forgetting clip studio has free 3D models.
  • Great tutorial. I learned a lot with this video; how to use actual photos with my art, using the aspect ratio - which I've never used before to this level, and using the 3D models from the assets. Thank you for sharing.

    Really good tutorial. Thanks.

this can be really handy when drawing multiple people in the background to save time, but for my main character I would sketch it freehand for a livelier look

Thank you for this helpful tutorial! I never thought about adjusting a photo reference to fit my style so this was a really useful tip for me.

THANK YOU !!! ; ) the bucket safed my work haha : )
  • did this before, and so many random peeps saying "heey! this is tracing" "take it down!" "art thieft!" -..- but i did for practice and taking it down

    Очень познавательно, спасибо)

The only drawbacks is this is slower and it sets the bar highfor the sketches you decide not to use the trace method with. It's hard for experienced artists to get perfect proportions consistently.
  • This is awesome, I just wish that showing the step by step process was slower and explained better. The artist zooms around selecting stuff on screen so fast as if a noob like me knows what theyre doing. like, explain each layer that's created and what purpose they serve.

How come my brush size looks way bigger than hers too even though im using the same size she has. Are there certain settings she has on? Someone please let me know.
