Torrential Rains Flood Dubai: What Led to This Heavy Rainfall? | Vantage with Palki Sharma

Heavy thunderstorms have lashed the United Arab Emirates, dumping the heaviest rain ever recorded in the country in the span of hours as it flooded out portions of major highways and Dubai’s international airport. Torrential rain flooded roads, homes and malls and briefly halted operations at Dubai's airport as storms lashed the Gulf, leaving at least 18 dead in Oman. The state-run WAM news agency called the rain “a historic weather event” that surpassed “anything documented since the start of data collection in 1949.” So, what led to this torrential rainfall? Was it climate change or something else? Palki Sharma tells you.

People think that there is no God, but this shows God is in control of his creations.

Wettest day in Dubai is right. I can still feel the pain of my almost 5 hours walk going back home. No metro, no taxi. Major roads, tunnels and under passes are flooded. Dubai terrain mostly flat and not all major roads have built in drainage as the region sparsely receiving rains annually now they should reconsider ramping up the city drainage system.

Thats just 1 day of heavy rain. Imagine if it went on for a week. We humans are fragile
  • I remember them doing weather manipulation. Looks like some nasty side effects. Better to let Mother Nature be.
  • @superdad933
I also agree with the theory of cloud seeding went bad...LOL
  • This is what happens when you spend your money on things to make you look good, instead of actually useful infrastructure for a city.

My heart goes to all those "expats" who lost their valuables. I hope insurance covers this and they dont face the same helplessness as they felt during these rains..
  • @Thoughts2002
Yeah few days ago I was watching videos of them boasting of cloud seeding, now Indra - the deity of clouds and rains is checking in.
  • @RonWuerch

Top 3 busiest Airports in the world: 1.) Atlanta airport 2.) Dubai airport 3.) DFW airport
  • Dubai has always messed with nature by flashing its money ! Changing coastlines, building islands & shifting currents, cloud seeding ! This is just a slap on the face from nature to show them some humility
