Would love to see more Sopranos fashion breakdowns! I mean even Tony's shirts are iconic.

I live near the "bada bing" (Satin Dolls) and the Garden State Plaza. There was a store called Caché where they bought most of Carmelas wardrobe.

That silver, white gold look Carmela wears is unmatched. She looked so beautiful. I wish they kept her looking this way. GOWNSSSS all day
  • I always LOOVVEEDDD Ade’s outfit designs!!! Between her and Carmela, they always had the best clothes imo. That tiger/animal print satin dress was absolutely STUNNING!!! And not to mention Drea de Matteo is just drop dead gorgeous with a physique that could even pull off a brown paper bag!!!
  • It’s funny because in retrospect Ariana’s style is considered stylish (similar to the main character in the Nanny) but at the time, these characters were specifically styled to look lowerclass and new money. A lot of their style staples (low rise pants, prints, heavy lip liner, etc) were meant to visually convey that they are new to money as a lot of these trends were still associated with hip hop artists and streetwear. These styles are now all lumped together as being iconically 90s but they were very clear low status symbols at the time, similar to high color wigs, nail art, and clear heels which used to be relegated to “ghetto” black girls but have now been adopted as mainstream late 2010s fashion touchstones

FINALLY FINALLY A SOPRANOS FASHION ANALYSIS 😭😭 we definitely need one on the guys too

French tip manicures, intentional highlights, grape or cinnamon colored lipsticks are the first things that came to mind. Big gold jewelry as well.
  • It's an incredibly diverse form of fashion tht highlights the early 2000s, but it's easy to see how Carmela would never wear what Adriana does, and Adriana would never wear Carmela's wardrobe either. The show was incredibly good at having the female characters stand on their own, even in their appearance, no matter the similarities. One of the keys to a great cinematic masterpiece is the wardrobe

FINALLYYYYY, I love reading interviews of Juliet Polcsa, talking about how Paulie's actor styled himself (and his little wings), how she shopped where real mobsters shopped in Jersey. I love the leather jackets, little knit polos, bowling shirts, suspenders, track suits, opulent chains and bracelets that the men wear too. : ) Great video!

My favorite outfit that Carmela wore was a pink, Fila tracksuit with matching pink tennis shoes. She always looked so great and put together. I think that is one of the reasons Tony didnt want to leave her.
  • Absolutely LOVED this video!!! More of this kind of content for The Sopranos❤ I love how you said Adriana’s clothes were an armor to protect her personality 🙏🏽
  • For a show so popular I cannot think of a time people have talked about the costumes (asides from jokes) and I'm really glad this video was made. A lot of Greek ladies also rock the "mob wife" Carmella look too lmao

the Adriana outfit I love the most is when she wears green and white while standing outside of the airport with Chris in a neck brace. it's the most simple but it's one of her most hilarious moments. (the Roberto cavalli tiger dress is her most stunning tho I need that in my closet)
  • Adriana is one of the most well-written women in television history. I've watched the Sopranos a couple times over and seeing her in the early seasons gets harder and harder each time.

I thought Carmella's personal appearance reflected her character and motivations, not necessarily the trends of the time. In the earlier seasons, she was happy to indulge in the lifestyle provided by Tony, but as the show went on, she moved away from that indulgence, spending less money on hair, makeup and nails. As the possibility of life without Tony became more real, she became more practical in her choices, and economical in her personal life. She is seen less playing tennis and more studying for her real estate license, less getting her nails done and more squirrelling money into bank accounts and investments. I thought she got her haircut because short hair is easier to manage.

Very innovative and perfectly analyzed! Amazing, and the first of its kind. And you nailed it, love going through that look book .. Carms jewelry... How did I overlook that collection, it rivals Liz Taylor's ❤😊 thank you for your hard work and vision!
  • @Keiaradise
My absolute favorite outfit from the entire series was when Carmela had a dream of Adriana in Paris 😍
  • @TheColeTruth
great video as always! I enjoy the fashion from this show also. Notable mention to the therapist Melfi, she rocked all those suits
