Instead of installing an expensive car alarm system or using ineffective methods to prevent your car from getting stolen, learn how to install an inexpensive, hidden kill switch. simplisafe.com/dreamcar

This kill switch is easy to install and anyone can do it at home with basic tools. It can also work along with your car's current alarm system. How it works is it cuts the power to the fuel pump so you cannot jump start the car, hot wire it, or even push start it. In order to steal the car you need to tow it! It is better than a batter quick disconnect because your computer wont restart and you wont lose your radio stations.

This is gold. My dad used to do this to his cars by using the cigarette lighter. The car wouldn't start unless the cigarette lighter was pushed in. The thing I like about the fuel pump method is that the thief doesn't know for sure if there's a kill switch - there could just be something else wrong with the car. And the repeated attempts at turning it over make a lot of noise, which is when they get introduced to your baseball bat.

From an old Air Force electronics teacher and electronics technician, just to add a small bit to your comprehensive presentation: We always had to read aloud a "caution" about probing connectors. If you've never probed a connector with multimeter leads, it's possible to damage the connector. Just do this part with a little extra care so as not to damage the connector. Excellent video - thanks!

I'm pretty handy but mostly when it comes to tech and IT stuff. I know some basic maintenance on cars and have done a few head unit/speaker installs. But this man can inspire you to do just about anything. Definitely one of my favorite channels on YouTube. The presentation is always top notch. I wish more facets of life had how to's that were the quality of ChrisFix videos.
  • What a life saver man, with all the thefts lately with Hyundai vehicles I had the idea to do just this, but I was apprehensive, but after watching this video I now feel confidant enough to attempt this modification. Now I just have to convince my better half...

car doesn't start Chris fix: "Oooo baby! Now that is what i'm talkin' about!"
  • @srboromir452
In this case polarity doesn't matter, but it's a good idea to do like spade connectors on the same side so you never plug the wrong wires together, ALSO cut the wires at different lengths so it's harder for them to short out

Scrolling through the comments trying to find someone giving you a pat on the back for offering such an awesome idea for the position and by default spoiling it for yourself forever and can’t find any, bad job everyone! And thank you Chris, I don’t have a car and I don’t plan in getting one soon but I love your videos and if I get one I would feel confident to do work on it myself thanks to you 👍
  • @FrietjeOorlog
Put a decoy switch under the dash, that sets off the alarm when flipped.

  • Hey Chris! I recently bought my dream car, a Honda S2000 just like your friend, and it was actually stolen from the previous owner in 2009. After watching this video and seeing the beginning it was practically an omen telling me to install one of these lol. Your video was incredibly helpful and now there's a killswitch cleverly hidden in my car! Thank you!
