About a decade ago a girl I went on a date with stayed the night at my house, we were laying in my bed talking. At the time my entire bedroom was adorned with nothing but TMNT stuff, including my entire figure collection. After an awkward silence in the conversation she turned to me and said, "Ya know, if we're going to be dating you're going to have to do something about all these Turtle toys." So I looked at her and replied/asked, "Who said we were gonna be dating?"

I first encountered TMNT when I was 4. I saw the 2003 series on a local TV station

I love how the terror bears came back as the dream beavers in the 2012 TMNT show

What was amazing with TMNT is that there were material for almost every ages. I got my first TMNT figure at 7 and started watching the cartoon. At 10, I was reading the Archies comics series. At around 16, I found on the internet scans of the original comic book and started collecting them few years laters. I really think that's what made this so unique.

This is my favorite video you've ever done! Nothing is more nostalgic for me than the beginnings of TMNT. I was in the toy isle as they first put the original figures on the shelf, before I even knew there was a TV show. I saw Donatello first. I said WOW, Whats this?! It was like finding the holy grail. That was the start of my lifelong obsession.

"I like turtles." From that little kid interviewed in the news years ago.

Love how this was shorter and felt a bit more detail than the Netflix episode. I grew up with the toys and cartoon :)

Thanks for bringing this up. Most people don’t know about the pre playmates merch outside of the comics
  • I can remember TMNT for as long as I can think back. My dad had me started on the cartoon and toys and I was 3 when the original movie came out.

I have the TMNT and other strangeness RPG book and most of the supplements as well. It was my favorite to play because we incorporated it with Heroes Unlimited.

To anybody who hasn't read the Mirage comics: Read it if you ever get a chance,it's great!

The artwork in those Palladium books was worth the price of admission by itself. But the game was a lot of fun, too. good memories there!

My first exposure to the TMNT was actually the Dark Horse lead figures. Back in 1986 my family moved near the downtown area of our city, and it had a gaming store. Walls of metal miniatures, role playing games, and comic books. I recall the TMNT being there are looking both cool and weird, but wouldn't get into the franchise until that first wave of Playmates figures appeared at the local comic shop and I bought the original Leonardo figure.

I first saw an episode of the cartoon. I liked it so much that I set up a zip line across my bedroom, and had Panthro from the Thundercats slide down it using his nunchaku like Mikey in the intro. Fast forward to that summer. My parents took me to Toys R Us for my birthday, and I saw the first wave of the Turtles on the pegs. They bought me Michelangelo, Donatello, and Splinter, and my obsession with TMNT grew from there!
  • Such cool figures, who knew so many years later they would have still been so popular to collect. Cowabunga!

I remember these books when I was a kid I used to borrow them from my local library and draw each page I also remember loving the artwork compared to the cartoon series it was so gritty and cooler in comparison

I was in kindergarten in 1989 and all the other kids were talking about them, so I slowly built my collection. Within a year of that, they were bigger than Batman.
