I've finally given in to the hype to try Final Fantasy VII. For the next couple of days I won't do anything else but sleep and play Final Fantasy until I've completed this godlike game!

Can't believe it took Connor 28 years to beat a 27 year old game
  • @chrisgee8441
Dude… Connor talking, “I’m sad right now, why am I fighting, I don’t want to do this right now. I need some time to grieve…” the fact that they instilled the feeling of life continuing after a loved one dies THROUGH GAMEPLAY… Art.

Connor is in his JRPG arc. The fact that we’re seeing him play Final fantasy and Chrono trigger is a reality I never thought we’d see
  • @Casadilla72
It’s so heartwarming to see a man in his late 70s still participate in gaming. It truly shows you are never to old to follow you passion. Keep it up, Cdoggy ❤❤❤❤

I was that guy who used Aerith as a main character, she was my date at the gold saucer, and the one selected during the Don cross dressing minigame. I used her has a healer at first, but for some reason whenever I fought a boss they would never directly attack her and she survived so many bosses solo she ended being by my highest level character. My hatred for Sephiroth was cemented that day, he had become my Griffith.

Bro these thumbnails are so goddamn good. Give Chik a raise

Sephiroth: Kills Aerith Cloud: Way to go buddy it took us three days to get all her limit breaks. Sephiroth: flies away Cloud: THREE DAYS!!!
  • I appreciate that connor explains the game like its the first time we are all seeing it as well. For some, that might even be true! He does a wonderful job explaining things and his commentary is spot on! Keep up the good work and hope your cycling is going well!

One thing he said during the stream and I think it still holds true to ANYONE who played the original, is that it formed part our identities. This game is an experience that all who have played share. This is a welcoming to a new fan and a homage to the rest of us.

when you have beaten so many JRPGs that seeing a game that is 36 hours long feels short
  • @collyr871
    “Shouting profanities I shouldn’t have known!” 😂
  • @MicOfWhy
21:30 the way Connor read it without any hesitation just for realization of what he just read to kick in is just perfect.

17:25 love how connor goes from laughing and making jokes into shocked at how dark this game is, about sums it up
  • I'm just very shocked that Connor managed to avoid all of the spoilers for FF7 after all this time! So, we got to see his actual emotions to realizing that Aerith was gone and not coming back (in that game). I'm happy he got to experience that moment first-hand. Also...happy he too realized just why this game is so damn good 😂. That's not to disparage the other FF games, but it's not without a plethora of reasons why this one has stood the test of time. But if your favorite FF game is different, hear me now, believe me later...Square Enix WILL be making a remake or remaster of it. FF7 is their biggest cash cow, so it makes sense to start off the remakes with it. But give it time...there's too much money to be made off of milking nostalgia. All of your favorite games will get a similar treatment. And honestly? I say good on 'em. People have wanted something similar as what's happening now with 7 for their favorite title for a long time, so why not go for it? I'm never going to play any FF game older than 7, so I'd love to play a 3D version of the earlier titles.

I love FFVII so much. I know that the localization doesnt quite hold up. But the story, the characters, the world and the music are all too much to forget. Glad Conner is getting a chance to experience it!
  • @alenor210
It’s kind of insane how this game’s severe limitations are also the reason it was able to be so huge. In just 3 years, the team at Square was able to take a bunch of triangles and blurry background images and turn them into an honest-to-god epic; a grand narrative with multiple acts that spanned an entire planet and was, still is, and forever will be, incredibly gripping and emotionally resonant. Compare that to the Remake trilogy, which is shaping to take ~15 years and 3 full games to tell a story on that same scale using modern, hyper-realistic graphics. But unless you’re remaking the most popular jrpg ever made which is guaranteed to sell well, nowadays it is no longer feasible for major studios to make a game on that scale. The modern standard of graphical realism necessitates that the scope of games be limited.

I can't even imagine how long this took to edit together. Huge props to you and your editor(s) for getting this together. Nearly 2.5 hours went by in a flash, it was incredibly well done. I'm glad you took the time to go through FFVII and that you enjoyed it! Your VOD playthrough showed up on my personal account's suggested videos, and I'm so glad to have stumbled onto your content (I spent an absurd amount of time watching you play crane games lmao). I'm very much enjoying the Cyclothon, and you seem like a really genuine/good person. Looking forward to seeing what you create!

I’m not particularly interested in these types of videos myself but holy shit these thumbnails are great. They go against all the trends and just look dope. Here for it.
  • @advarium
Tiny did an amazing job on the edit. I haven't watched a 2 plus hour video that's been this engaging and entertaining the whole time in quite a while.
