DAVE THE DIVER is...cozy? | demo & review

I love this game... but every time a shark even SHOWS its face, I'm scared. COSY for the cool fish facts, SCARY for the sharks.

Before I even start video, yes yes Dave the Diver is so cozy!!

I would so panic when being attacked by fish while I'm just vibing securing my friends business. hahaha

Spoiler alert… IT IS! I love it. Same for graveyard keeper 😊 Not conventional cozy but still cozy!

Underwater breath timer mechanics stress me out, but there's so many fun elements, and I'm interested in the story elements with the scientists. I think I'd still like to give it a try!

I appreciate that you point out that cozy is different to everyone! I think on first glance, it's not what you'd typically call cozy but like you said, there are so many aspects of it that are exactly what other cozy games have! I bought it on a whim because of all the good reviews and was hooked. I was playing as soon as my toddler went to bed for the night. It has "stressful" things like you mentioned, but I think challenge is what makes a game good. I love me a cozy game but my gripe with the world of cozy is that it's become such a popular thing lately that there are a lot of games being churned out targeted at people who want cozy, but the gameplay is really poor or the game just lacks a lot of substance. I hope people are able to look past the fact that it's not your typical "cute" cozy game, because it's so good! The music is also 10/10.

I was so excited to see you cover this game! I’ve been obsessed and just beat the base. Still working through the DLC’s. Do you have recommendations for other games that feature some of the same things? I like upgrading equipment and management functions. Just looking to not go diving now. 😂
