Sometimes I buy things on Amazon just assuming they aren't going to work. Curiosity killed the cat. I see weird things and I gotta try them. And then...sometimes they turn out amazing. Today I'm sharing the stupidest thing I ever bought on Amazon that actually turned into amazing Amazon finds.

I am a California girl and grew up with Thrifty drug store that had an award winning ice cream counter. They ALWAYS used that ice cream scoop you bought. The first scoop fits perfect in a cone!!
  • That "bag holder thingy" is also great for us recyclers who need to wash out plastic bags and let them dry before putting them in the specialized recycling. Yes! Washing plastic bags is definitely a PITA, but the holder thingy helps them dry faster than using a dang towel. And you may not want to wash plastic bags, but at 71 yo I am doing it for your children. 💝

The bag holder contraption: I just put a gallon freezer bag in a two-cup Pyrex (or Anchor) measuring cup, fold the excess over like a cuff, add my food of choice (especially liquidy soups and sauces) up to the rim of the cup. When you remove the bag, the contents fill half the bag, which gives you enough room to squish the bag flat enough so that when you freeze the bag laying flat, the contents are thin enough that you just break off as much or as little as you need.

I’m on oxygen 24/7 so I can’t be around flames. These candle warmers are perfect for me.

Something I think is genius about the kitchen items is that, it makes cooking more accessible. As you said, maybe someone only has one hand, or has limited use (or cannot grip as well). Also with cutting produce or small pieces; I think making this more accessible can be life changing for someone! I think the idea of meal prep being hard can actually be really insightful into someone's life. Just someone having chronic pain-if the time spent doing an activity that adds to the pain can be cut down on (pun intended)-this opens doors!

I use my hard boiled egg slicer to cut my strawberries. One gadget, many uses! Soft cheeses, olives too!

The Ziploc bag holder. My kitchen space is always limited and I have finally learned NOT to buy something I don't need. I always ask myself, do I already have something that will work? For years, I have just grabbed my 1qt Pyrex measuring cup and put my bag into it, open it, and fill it. A bowl works too, or a glass. As far as drying Ziploc bags, I use clothes pins, first letting it drip upside down, then slightly opening it and clipping it incorporating a bit of the top seam, and it stays open and finishes drying. I did have one of these gadgets, and immediately donated it. It had to have a place to live, and periodically needed to be cleaned, and took up space--and I already had something that worked very well.

The meatball maker is the best! I use my all the time and I even bought the hamburger maker one too. BONUS: use the meatball maker to make energy balls too!
  • The shirt thing. In the 70’s we cut the bottom off the shirt and sewed elastic on the top. I’ve worn them for years, didn’t know you could buy them already made!! The meatball thing, I fill it then put it in the freezer for 30 min, then they pop out easily. But not frozen hard where they don’t separate well. Then the go in a ziplock and finish freezing

You're going to send me straight into bankruptcy with your Amazon reviews. 😅

The Thrifty's ice cream scoop is my favorite thing! Getting a Thrifty's ice cream cone with my Grandma after ballet practice is a core memory of my time with her. That scoop was always used and it made eating the ice cream cone pretty easy too. So glad you liked it!

There’s a second half to the phrase… “Curiosity killed the cat, but satisfaction brought it back.” 🐈

Kallie awesome video, my vote is for you to make more Amazon videos. You find unique and really cool and useful ideas. Basically all the products you featured I would want to buy from Amazon., when I get the money😉
  • @KatieDattalo
These might be the best suggestions I've seen on YouTube. I already have the bag holder thing and LOVE it so I know your recommendations are legit 😂 thanks!

Being Italian and making a lot of meatballs, I think I’d like that tray to make them. Closest gadget I have looks like scissors with two half ball cups on the ends. Sometimes the meat doesn’t pop out and it’s annoying. When you pop them out of that tray it can go right on a baking sheet and into the oven to cook. Plus clean up is a breeze. Easy peezy!
  • Thank you for teaching me about the shirt extender!! I've always been self-conscious about my hips and I've passed on buying some really cute shirts because of the length. I'm ordering my extender today! 😊
  • I'm definitely getting the meatball maker! It looks like a big time and effort saver.

Love the candle warmers. As you said, no flame and thus, no soot. Plus, your candles will last a lot longer as they are not being burned down. So many wins... ❤ ❤ ❤

I want a candle warmer. Some scents are stronger with a candle than a wax warmer, plus it lasts longer than burning the candle. I love the idea of no residue. Some candles get really black. Also make sure you use a top down warmer. You get a more potent, longer life out of the candle with top down warmers.
