Every time I hear it, I’m back in that puppy love, baby love world and I have to play it all the way through to stay in that moment as long as possible. If it ever came on the radio while I was cleaning the kitchen, my kids suddenly saw dance mom break out and be embarrassing, again. Thanks for keeping it going.

So many great songs from Van Morrison: "Moondance"; "Have I Told You Lately"; "Gloria"; "Tupelo Honey"; "Crazy Love". He also does a great version of "Carrickfergus" with The Chieftains on his album Irish Heartbeat.

My husband sings this to our 6-year-old daughter. When it comes on in the house, she'll go and find him and expect him to drop everything and dance with her. 😄 We know quite a few dads and daughters of all different ages who it's the same way for and I've been to more than a couple of weddings where the bride has chosen this for the father-daughter dance. I think there's actually a re-mixed version of the song that DJs use for weddings, where the sassy part has been cut out and replaced with the first and/or second verses. So, yeah... it's a thing. Sebs might not quite get it now, but just wait until the girls are older and they make it their dad/daughter song. Knowing what a softy he is where your girls are concerned, I'd be willing to bet that a tear or two will be shed. 😉

I first heard this song in spring of 1968 and have been listening every since. There are so many renditions by Van, including the solo by Toni Marcus on violin and later Pee Wee Ellis on sax. Each is different and each is special. It's as sweet as Tupelo Honey.
