This may be the first time I've ever seen the Undead Cat actually show up in a run that wasn't intentionally showcasing it

I will never tire of "EIGHT FUCKING BEARS" meme.
  • Goes to show that 1 damage cards can be useful as long as you have 4 damage cards
  • This is something I really want a full game of, a horror card game where to win you have to use the rules against your opponent.
  • Wow, just as I was doing skull storm for the first time and struggling with the bears, you upload a strategy for it. Absolute legend.

I remember trying to beat all challenges together and I found out that bees can be really strong option for dragging out the game when you have unlimited supplies of bees
  • I'm learning so many useful things from your channel, like this and the fair hand rule!

the skull storm challenge was pretty brutal, you pretty much need to aquire a broken build by the first boss to even survive, and surviving long enough to even do that is nearly impossible as well. Sometimes you just get a fight that is literally unwinnable from turn one if leshy puts the wrong totem on the wrong battle

On my only successful Skull Storm run, I didn't have any good items for dealing with the bears on map one, but I had a "all Insects have Bees Within" totem. I was planning to just whittle away at the bears until they were all gone, but ran out of cards first. That's how I discovered Starvation Strat. :)
  • Hello!! I’ve beaten skull storm (or max difficulty, idk the lingo) with every starter deck, so I have dealt with the bears a lot. Neat strategy idea!!! I love it. Only theoretical problem would be stalling but this adds a new route to a challenge that already has so few solutions. Awesome stuff

Ended up having a new strategy that worked well unintentionally. Went with the blood goat deck, was looking to get unkillable sigil on the goat, got it for the elks from the woodcarver. I ended up getting the lammergeier card, and when I spawned with it, the goat and the moose, I was able to spam the goat and moose to get enough bones to one shot the bears in the line. Get the four bones onto the goat, and the jumó attack onto the moose and I won the game relatively easily
  • Ngl I was thinking that as you explained the strategy. "That Cat's gonna resurrec- yep there it goes, Undead Cat moment"

In my own Skullstorm run, I ended up discovering something that I've never seen anyone else mention anywhere. The game always ensures that there is at least ONE possible way to win every single battle, regardless of what cards you draw. I beat it via abusing the quit and reload thing which resets the battle so you can try again, and in act 3 I began to really hit a brick wall with some frustrating totem fights, primarily a Bifurcated strike Hooved battle where Leshy kept throwing down a Moose Buck. I was really stubborn and refused to give up since I had made it past the second wall of Grizzlies, so I kept resetting the fight over and over to try and win and noticed something. It took me nearly 30 resets for that one battle, but I noticed that every single time, regardless of what hand I started with, there would always be exactly one possible action that would be "right" and not just keep the battle going, but let me start getting a lead in damage. It would get as specific as involving the items, as if I had something like a fan, the only possible way I could win would be to use it on a specific turn, but if I didn't have the fan, I never would have needed it because some other way to win was possible. Another fight seemed entirely impossible because I had nothing to play at the start without drawing more, until I remembered I had a bottle of bones which let me put down a Cayote, and only by using that item to play that card could I actually keep going in the battle. Or I had a totem of tail drop Canine, and I'd need to play my wolf pup specifically so that it would spawn a tail, the tail would survive the hit, and then I use the tail as a sacrifice to play another card. Over act 3 I started messing around with it, and it kept happening. Every single battle, no matter what hand I started with, no matter what Leshy played or cheated in via the Reinforcements skull, there was always one set of actions that if followed would win the game every single time. You'd have to find those actions out via brute forcing and resetting over and over, but on the act 3 boss I also noticed something. Again, no matter what hand I drew at the start, I would ALWAYS also end up drawing my Bear win condition by the time they'd show up, which was a Dire Wolf with 4 attack to kill the bear, and a bifucating strike Lammergeier to get in the 5+ damage hit, and those two cards would NEVER be a required loss to get through the first part of the fight, while the set of required actions would also always end up with 10+ bones so I could get the Lammergeier to 5+ damage. I think in each battle, the game checks what your deck is, what order you'll draw the cards in, and then has Leshy play so that you will always have one list of plays to make in order that will let you win. Inscryption isn't a deck building card game, it's a deck building puzzle game...
  • Wow never thought of that, great tip cant wait to try it out!

I’ve beaten the skullstorm challenge with every starting deck before and haven’t even once considered using starvation to my advantage like this. My favorite combo is using the morsel sigil on the hooved totem because it has the black goat and moose buck which leads to funny shenanigans. Lit video
  • I've been using this strategy for ages, and it really does make a huge difference in how consistently you can win Skull Storm. I should note that Lammergeier is absolutely unparalleled as an enabler for this strategy – no extra sigils needed, no items needed, no chump blockers needed. Just gather 10 bones and stick the Lammergeier in front of a Starvation and you win. So the otherwise-mediocre Lammergeier becomes almost a snap pick in Skull Storm because it single-handedly covers all your Grizzly Boss concerns.
