Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg used a complicated legal framework in Hawaii called “quiet title” to sue ancestral land owners and force them to sell their lands. It was all to secure his private getaway on Kauai. After Native Hawaiians protested, using his own platform, he dropped the suits. But the damage is done, as AJ+'s Dena Takruri explored in this battle of land rights in paradise.

Im Native American and this pisses me and my community off... My ancestry and culture have been destroyed and I'm tired of seeing this continue. We need to repect people, culture and the land.

I’m so glad you highlighted this issue. I went there for the first time 20 years ago and started reading the history and I am disgusted how the native Hawaiians have been and still are being treated to this day.

This is completely unacceptable!!! Selfish, ridiculously rich (paying no taxes) are taking anything they want regardless of who or what they hurt to do it! This needs to be stopped! This is beyond horrible!
  • @JJunkAFunk
Well Zuck can go to hell. Give them permits for their lands. They’re not just legally entitled, but they’re also culturally entitled for it.

Who's here after the Maui fire massacre? And who is starting to piece this wicked puzzle together?
  • @Recken1
This aged super well. Now the land grab of Maui will take place. These people (Zuck being only 1 of them) are disgusting. I hate seeing what's happening to these people. They are doing this in the US mainland too. Too few people have too much power.
  • @bluemusej
This is terrifying to watch today. My heart goes out to all Hawaiians!
  • @angiecoers6255
Someone in the Government allowed it happen. Where is Obama since he loved Hawaii so much, he needs to help that people that he lived for many years.
  • @estelanicolas7536
Greed has no limits. Grabbing ancestral lands is immoral, just evil.
  • How did he not feel horribily disgusting within himself doing something like this ?I'm appalled
  • @Gracemarcantel
No wonder he "dropped the suit", he had other plans....
  • @TheUnknownSwan
I'm truly disgusted. This is happening everywhere. He bought land here in Big Sur as well...on sacred land that our native Esselen's had been buried for 1,000's of years. He doesn't care. Why do these people need so much land and own multiple palace's all over the world? He bought land in New Zealand too. I don't think he's human...he has no heart or soul.

Mark Zuckerburg needs to stop being selfish and pay more on his taxes.
  • I'm all for unstateing Hawaii They should be able to control their own land, including kicking out the US government
  • @lkmcle5409
Something tells me the Maui fire was not an accident-- I've heard someone is buying burnt land and forcing people off their burnt property..
