The successor to the PSP has become quite the cult classic. As one of my favorite handhelds ever, I've been a massive advocate of the device since its release. However, time has done its thing and PlayStation has ported many exclusives from the Vita to consoles. Is the library still worth it? What exclusives remain? Which version do you buy? How much does is go for? Does PSN even still work? What classics for PSP and PS1 are available? The questions are plentiful, so let's take a look at the little handheld that could!

I play daily on either my PS5 or my gaming PC but every night when I lay down I grab the Vita and play for about an hour before going to sleep. Such an underrated handheld.

I recently jailbroke mine after not touching it for years. Haven’t stopped playing it since. Ever since I became a dad last year. It’s hard to find time to sit down on the couch and play PS5. Or retreat to my man cave and play PC. Psvita is great to pick up and go. Usually sits in sleep mode around the house and battery barley drains.

You can delete all previous player’s trophy data and start anew with your own progress by inserting the cartridge, tapping and holding the game icon and selecting delete/uninstall. Remove the game cartridge and then put it back in again, and everything will start fresh, like it’s new. I figured this out a while back but clicking and tapping around, but I guess it might still not be common knowledge. Hope this helps.

If you're not hacking your Vita for emulation and Homebrew, what are you even doing?!
  • I got one 6 months ago or so. I only have 2 games. God of War collection and Uncharted Golden Abyss. I need more games, I love this thing.
  • The Vita truly was underappreciated! Specially for a person like me who loves Japanese games!
  • If it wasn't for the Vita, I would have never experienced one of my favorite stories about growth set in one of my favorite worlds. The Muv Luv Trilogy is absolutely phenomenal.
  • The ONLY reasons to own a Vita in 2024 is SD2Vita, PKGj, Adrenaline, Homebrew and lower end emulation. Way too expensive to collect physically games now and some games are impossible to find. Hacked my Vita about 5yrs ago now and sold off my collection of around 40+ games. Probably tripled if not quadrupled what i originally paid for them

I take my Vita to work with me nearly every day. It's far more pocketable than many other modern handhelds, and many of the systems features have aged very well so far. Great battery life as well.

Not to mention one of the most active homebrew communities out the there with amazing ports of all kinds of games like gta and such!

I still play mine regularly. Sonic Racing Transformed and Chinatown Wars recently.

Great timing! I just got an SD card adapter in today and plan to homebrew it. Had my Vita since 2016 and have been playing it pretty consistently. A lot more than my Switch. I highly recommend getting thumb stick extenders. It's night and day when playing shooters.

Ever since I got to borrow a PSP for the better part of two months back in 2010, I've always wanted a PlayStation portable system

Crazy I just bought a PS Vita yesterday and now here you are with this video. Can’t wait for it to get here, already getting all my roms ready.
  • Great timing! My son picked one up a couple of months ago, and I've been looking to pick up some games. This video was exactly the info I needed.

I was literally just playing on my Vita, the Vita is the GOAT!
  • @minjod
Vita is amazing. You can play Vita, PSP, PS1 games. As well as other retro consoles via emulation

I finally got around to buying a Vita OLED in March, mainly because I wanted to play Txk, which is amazing and a lot more fun than Tempest 4000, which is based on it and now on all sorts of platforms. I didn't buy a Vita when it came out because of the memory cards, but that problem has been fixed by the community, and I think it's great. I travel a lot for work and I have been bringing my Vita with me instead of my Switch or Steam Deck just because I don't have to take it out of my bag at the TSA checkpoint.
