Tinnitus 1

Published 2018-03-13
When the natural balance in the auditory system is upset by hearing loss, the normal neural activity in the inner ear and brain is altered. The brain interprets this alteration as a whistling or ringing sound known as tinnitus.

Tinnitus most commonly results from hearing loss caused by exposure to excessive or loud noises, however it can also be caused by aging, ototoxic drugs, Temporo-Mandibular Joint disorder (TMJ), depression, anxiety, Lyme disease, thyroid disorders, ear infections, or wax in the ear.
