Okay headcanon time: Intro is Asgore, in a kimono, solemnly putting on his helmet and standing up revealing he's had his full attire on under the kimono. After his "It was nice to meet you" dialogue he unsheathes his katana and throws away the sheathe (like how destroying the mercy button suggests he doesn't feel like he DESERVES mercy) and readies for battle. Unlike all the other monsters (except Toriel) he only uses magic attacks, another way of showing he doesn't want to be fighting. The only time he'd inflict damage directly with his blade is if you spare him after beating him as he commits seppuku.
