I built a CAT TREE with a built-in litterbox using branches

I built a big cat tree for our cat Pooh and new kitten Wizzie! In this spot were our litter box and recycling bin. I had the idea for a while to build a frame to hide these and it was the perfect spot to add a big tree for the cats to climb in on top. So I thought it was a good idea to film and share the process. They love it so much and spend so much time in there just playing and cuddling.

I have some plans for an addition with a bridge to a second part, maybe add a little clear dome bed so we can see their cute paws when they sleep in there. I am sure they will love it! Let me know if you like to see me make a second addition.

Hey Esmee, where can I find branches like that? "Oh, my fiancee is a forest ranger." Oh I see. So you decided not to glue or nail in the rope, but to knot it. "Yeah, I'm a girl scout, so I know a thing or two about knots." Oh. How do you know this is structurally sound? "Yeah, I'm a structural engineer." lol

This is the most aesthetically pleasing cat house on YouTube, simply beautiful!
  • She's a structural engineer. He's a forest ranger. No wonder they're so handy! The finished product is fabulous. My cats would love something similar, but alas, I have two left thumbs.

It's crazy how cats have trained us humans to be so dedicated to them and try to do anything that makes them happy 😂 I'm planning to build one as well!

Mmmm can we just acknowledge how much of a badass are you for building this?!🤍

So I read cats don't like their water next to their food, neither to their litter box, neither to their sleeping /relax places....glad our cats are not much of readers and appreciate all the thought, work and love we have for them😂 ....gonna copy this as much as I can. You've done an outstanding job. Thank you for the inspiration. ❤
  • Just gotta say, I think yours is the best cat-tree playground, because: 1) natural and rustic elements (great aesthetics), 2) sturdy supports, 3) big platforms (2 kitties can snuggle together), 4) great view (I would sit there all day too, if I were cat-sized), 5) space-saving (built over recycling bin and cat bathroom) 😻❤😻 LOVE IT! Yes, cat highway please! 😺👍😺
  • One more step she should've done is using a brass washer for each shelf when she was screwing it down from above--it would've added more strength so the screws would not loosen up later on with all the jumping around by her cats. Also use a wider screw for more grip. I have owned several cats in my adult life and am a handyman too in property mgmt, so I do know how to improvise on the fly.

This is not only well constructed, but the cats seem to love it, and it's beautiful as well! Nicely done!
  • I've been thinking of how to construct a natural wood ladder so our cats can get up on top of a wall that goes around our living room. It wouldn't be exactly like what you've done, but i got a lot of good ideas from watching how you approach this. Beautiful work!

Amazing work! You did it like a world pro! I think I can speak for Cats and People everywhere, structural engineers like you make the world a better and happier place for all. You do more than engineer, you build happiness. Very nice!

Amazing! she did it with passion and love for her Cats

Exactly what I was looking for ...Litterbox AND cat tree combo !!! Loving the natural look...it's clever and beautiful !

I have some large sturdy limbs in interesting configurations that were trimmed from my trees and I immediately thought about a genuine cat "tree", so this has helped me visualize what to do in order to make it a reality.

Cats love this because it smells like nature. I know my cat would be on three all the time. It is beautiful and I hope I can have something like this made when the time comes that I need storage and a place to hide a litter box. Maybe I can gather supplies and make one here. I just have to rearrange (get rid of ) furniture to be able to use it against a window here. I am so glad I came across this video. I am in PA during the time when the voting system is being uprooted.

I see you did this two years ago, I’m just now seeing this and wow! I absolutely love it so much❣️❣️We are always thinking of our cats and have been wanting to make them something similar to give them something new to enjoy as they’ve had the same cat tree for years… we’re always getting them new toys but it’s time for a new tree!! Thanks for the beautiful inspiration! I love the recycle and litter area too! Brilliant ❤️

So attractive and practical. A dream come true for indoor cats ! Thank you for sharing and yes, it would be great to see an extension/bridge for this cat tree.

You make designing & creating this amazing recycle/litter box hinged doors with fancy tree castle on top, so logical & easy! I suspected you have engineering/architect training & skills!! Very smart & creative!
