I love making homemade biscuits! When my daughter was small, she always loved eating the butter and the flour even before the biscuits were cooked. But the very last biscuit, I didn’t cut it with the biscuit cutter, was formed by hand into the “ugly biscuit“ and my daughter always loved to eat the “ugly biscuit“ as it always had some extra crispy points on it. And it was a special biscuit 😉 Thanks for the wonderful memory! 😊
  • Kevin, I lived in Atlanta for many years all my relatives are from there but I spent 27 in Florida. You will enjoy my grandma’s recipe. 1 cup of full fat butter milk 1/3 cup of mayonnaise 2 cups Gold Medal Self-Rise flour Blend mayonnaise in buttermilk throughly. Pour into flour. It will be a very think wet batter. Put 1 cup of the self rise flour in a 2 “ deep brownie pan then dump the dough in there and flow over letting the flour coat the batter, and fold about 6-8 times until you can mash it to 1 1/2” thick. Then cut out your biscuits and bake them in a 350 degree oven for 15 minutes until light golden brown brushing them liberally with melted butter. (You will never know there is Mayo in the recipe. For a more tangy biscuit, Dukes Mayo is marvelous. YOU’RE WELCOME!

Kevin, I absolutely adore you! You are the most elegant man, yet so very down to earth. Your food is so fabulous, yet not at all pretentious. So glad my sister discovered your videos and mentioned them to me. Thank you for being you!
  • @Nicki704
I so enjoy your videos! I could watch you all day…but then I wouldn’t get my gardening, cooking, cleaning done. So I allow an hour of my Kevin each early morning. What a wonderful way to start my day! Thank you so much for all you do for me!
  • My mother puts the strawberries in a pan ( more than a kilo) with a few tablespoons of sugar (very little) and boils the fruit whole and let's it boil slowly until she likes the consistency (pieces of strawberries and not totally pureed). Nothing g else. She boils the jars and fills it and closes it tightly. She does the same with apricots and peaches😊

  • In Germany, there is sugar especially for jams with 1:1, 1:2 and 1:3, i.e. one part sugar, 3 parts fruit. The sugar contains gelatine. Less sugar, less sweet and fewer calories!
  • I'm thrilled your channel has done so well, Kevin! You bring an elegant, gentle spirit to your videos, and it's lovely to see a gentleman sharing his passion for beautiful flowers, home styling and good, old-fashioned comfort cooking! Best wishes from Sarah xo (Victoria, Australia)

Kevin you made me laugh when you said “While clutching your pearls “ when you were adding the four cups of sugar. I do find organic strawberries at my local supermarket. Thank you. You always make my day. My mom made delicious biscuits; it brought me good memories.

We have a small farmers market where we get fresh strawberries during the season. Unfortunately the season is just about over. Don’t know why, but your videos make me very emotional. Thank you.
