This man shouldn’t be hired by Disney, he’s too good.

This song sounds like a teacher thats forcefully trying to be quirky and use phrases of younger people and it just ends up sounding cringe

I don’t get why he (a 50-60 year old spanish man from hundreds if not thousands of years ago) would use words like “vent”, “cute”, “prob”, “no sweat” and “-cause” like you can tell this was written by a 28-year old american woman in the 2020s

I think the way he mutters “…and this is the thank I get…?” in your revision is actually a very powerful character moment. The OG song tells us nothing about Magnifico except that he’s really vain, but the way you voiced that line carries such a bitterness that conveys that he holds resentment for every kind deed he does. He’s not just vain, he’s spiteful. He doesn’t even enjoy his job. He sees the PEOPLE of the city as the problem, being soooo ungrateful to him. I know he’s that way in the OG movie too, but I FELT it in this version.

"I can't do a villain voice" sounds more villainous than the original

The fact a random guy on YouTube can make a better villain song than a billionaire company is crazy

I’m a perfect world there’s a version of wish with this villain song, the queen was evil, the script writers actually took they’re damn time, starboy existed, and was 2d animated
  • Somebody send this to Chris Pine and see if he’ll accept a commission to sing this in a YouTube video as Magnifico
  • You know, Disney could have done the "too nice" trope, where the king is so kind that it is harming the city of Rosas. He fulfills EVERY wish and feels underappreciated. Asha could have been the voice of pragmatism while all the city is in chaos due to their wishes being fulfilled one after the other. This song matchs the vibe. Also, the line 'be careful what you wish for', on the movie's poster would be matching the theme, this way.

Listening to this song for the first time and Why does this man, the literal MAIN VILLAIN of the movie, sound like a highschool mean girl? 💀
  • @panampace
My most hated lyric of the movie has to be “eloquent dancers” in You’re a Star. It doesn’t even make sense, and “elegant dancers” is RIGHT THERE
  • "I started this gangsta shit, and this the mothafuckin' thanks I get?"
  • @UnidentifiedPixo
we went from well written, precisely crafted, bangers to "I LET YOU LIVE HERE FOR FREE AND I DON'T EVEN CHARGE YOU RENT!"
  • @Flutter_Aeina
The absolute audacity of Disney to give Chris Pine a bad musical number.

he writes this all in one session... why tf does he make this look so easy. His brain is a perfect songwriter
  • @gianna-lt7mp
"My whole family just got murdered by a psychopath with a axe 😊" Still sounds better then the real song

Alternative title: guy gets his own sanity broken in shambles by a song from Wish (you choose wich one)

I’m not a songwriter but I think after the “desperate measures” line it would have been the perfect opportunity to twist the song into smothering darker, to shift the lyrics and melody from the previous part of the song into something truly menacing, more like the older villain songs. The cheerful tone in the original all the way to the end takes away so much of the threat that when the song ends it just feels a bit pointless? I think the way you did it works so much better. The note you end on is much more powerful, and a lot more musical theatre-y, it’s great!
