  • Money can't buy you happiness But poverty can't buy you anything.
  • With a lot of money, you can have a lot of freedom. It's what you do with that extra freedom that's the question.

Money can't buy happiness but it does protect you against certain types of unhappiness.

I've had money and I've been broke. Money is just a tool that makes reaching your destination easier. Money doesn't deliver you happiness. It can keep you from being unhappy, if you use it well. Your happiness comes from within, not from external forces. If you are not happy with yourself, you won't be happy with someone else. Happiness is a journey to your higher self, not a ring you capture.

Money can buy things. Things can give you feelings. Those feelings can be anything: Happiness, Disappointment, Sorrow, Regret, anything.

I agree, money cannot buy you happiness, however, it can buy less the sadness in your life.

Money definitely CAN buy happiness. It allows you to phisically leave behind unhappy conditions, people, places etc. Financial security allows one to fully relax and eliminates 90% of stress from one's life.
  • Very True. But it's almost impossible to explain to someone who has never had financial freedom that money doesn't equates to happiness. It's a journey that one must experience to understand.
  • Everything I see from people who minimize, and downsize is that they are happier than people chasing bigger, bigger, and more, more. You will get criticized for being lazy, and unmotivated. That you lack urgency. Not sure why that's a good thing, but it's something I need to get away from, so I moved to a state where things were cheaper, made some good decisions and some not so good ones, but the best thing I've done for myself is downsize, and live a simpler life. At 83, I'm doing ok. Eating plant based, living that simple life, and feeling good.

“money doesn’t buy u happiness.” says the same guy that bought a yacht yesterday
  • But it can bring financial security, pay for Healthcare and buy virtually all our politicians.

One of the happiest times of my life was when I was in Grad school and poor and attending many of your lectures Dan. Perhaps we all need more Dan lectures in our life to become happier 🙂

Money for basic needs that will give you freedom from anxiety is necessary. This is called financial freedom but anything more than this is greed and desire which causes us suffering than happiness
  • Actually money gives u happiness by letting u buy things u need for urself and ur family. It can give u name fame comfort. It even gives u satisfaction but heart's satisfaction is a thing which money can't buy for the entire lifetime.

Money is unfortunately your respect in this world. Money is the key to the door.

I have a heated toilet seat/bidet after going to Japan in winter. That was the best purchase ever. Under $300 and have had it for almost 4 years already. Still works great.

When i was preg and had v little i noticed the trees and plants around me started producing fruits berries and greens.. seemingly when i would need them. Ive learned how uncanny it is that compared to how much we think we need financially.. humans themselves seem to be able to exist just fine on what nature provides. Maybe its a good exercise to sometimes tune into that. And funny how our bodies and minds are made to exist with nature. And that it sort of just gives us what we need. Pretty miraculous, awesome, and makes u question a whole lot about this other world we live.
