The staff list for this game is stacked! Nier's concept artist. Evangelion's mecha designer. Meguro and Soejima of course.

Just FYI Nico, the combat of this game where you attack the enemies with combo and switching it to turn based isn't the first time it has ever been done. That premise has been done in Kuro no Kiseki aka Trails through Daybreak. The 11th game in the trails series which will be released to the west in mid 2024

P3 Protagonist: This isn’t Tatsumi Port Island......... did I take the wrong train?

This game was the dark horse of TGA, it looks like it could be something special.

I’m so freaking excited for this game. Having (potentially) another pillar of Atlus being created before our eyes is amazing. The setting looks super unique and interesting, which is quite difficult when creating “classic” fantasy games.

Will Nico finish P3R and FF7R before Metaphor comes out? Find out next year

The combat is straight out of Kuro no Kiseki/Trails through Daybreak. You have basic action combat (attacking/dodging etc) and you can smack enemies around in the overworld, and if you stun them or whatever, you press a button to enter turn-based for bonuses/advantages. Alternatively you just enter turn-based straight away for finer control with dealing with tougher enemies, while using the action mode to clear up trash mobs. In Trails Through Daybreak most of the focus was on turn-based, and all your upgrades and customization was mostly for the turn-based mode. When the game had a boss battle, it was turn-based.

Persona games have weather, it influences which monster types show up, especially which rares are available. The combat job system looks like it might be something like FF13, where each character can have multiple jobs of different levels and can freely swap them for different moves. Though it's possible it's not that dynamic and you'd only be able to switch between battles.

I have a lot of problems with Neon Genesis Evangelion... The mech design isn't one of them.

Tbh, it feels like Persona and Xenoblade combined.
  • I'm thinking it could be that it's real-time when using just one character, but when you have a party with you, there's the option of switching to turn-based to use everyone.

I'm more excited for this game then anything next year, I've been waiting for like 6 years for anything about this game to be shown and honestly thought it got canned. The combat system reminds me of kuro no Kiseki/trails into daybreak where there is a on field action system so you can attack enemies to increase a stagger meter to get an advantage in turn based mode or just kill them if they are trash. Some other things i noticed is in the synthesis menu it highlights the characters that will be used in the attack. The game has press turn (smt 3 onward). The character's seemingly transform rather then summon something. Theres a playable section before you get your archetype (archetype is replaced with "skill" and synthesis is completely missing)

They finally released the trailer song yesss been waiting

This game looks like it's mixing stuff from mainline SMT and Persona. There's the calendar system which might function similarly as in Persona alongside a equivalent to the Velvet Room but the tone is much darker and the turn based part of the fighting seems to work closer to SMT.

2024 may actually set a record for the amount of games Nico let's plays (not live streams) on the year it comes out.
  • @Cuprite1024
This game looks cool. It's a shame I won't be able to play it since I only have Nintendo consoles (So, Switch) and my computer definitely would explode trying to run it. Lmao. I assume you'll be playing it, so at least I can experience it through you.

This game is kind giving me some vibes of Final Fantasy 12 and 13 in certain ways. In addition to the more direct influence of the listed properties of those working on it of course. The way multiple characters can switch roles might end up feeling a bit like the Paradigm system in 13, but with a very different context. Though, it could still go just about any other way with what info we have so far. ...Name dropping Evangelion sure is a bold move. Wonder how relevant that will be?

It kinda looks like you turn into that synthesis being and not really summon it to your side like a persona
