Thanks, I’ve spent way too much time listening to videos that never answer the question what works and what doesn’t. Finally.
-
The general advice would be that it’s fine to connect speakers with a higher impedance to an amplifier capable of operating with a lower impedance, but what you shouldn’t do is connect speakers with a lower impedance (say, 4 ohms) to an amplifier with a higher minimum impendence (10 ohms, for example). Today many amplifiers can handle a range of ohm ratings usually between 6 to 16 ohms.

This video was incredibly helpful! Many thanks from someone brand new to the world of audio!

Wow great information. I am a lover of good sounds when it comes to my movie

Well explained. Thanks for your video.

Very timely video.

That’s why I purchased the Parasound A23+ two channels music can drive 8,4 and 2 ohms.

Very well explained,thx

This video is the first I’ve seen that made me understand this topic! So if I’ve got a 3 way active setup with speakers rated for 8 ohms being powered by a 6 channel amp rated for 4 ohms, the speakers won’t be getting the full power from the amp?

Good job

Thanks for this video, I am buying rotel kas500 amplifier to pair it with Zu DW 6 that has full range 12 oms speakers .. is that going to work or can that harm the amp or speaker? Thank you again

Hi KPace! I have a pair of JBL L7 speakers rated 6ohms and the center, ceiling, side surrounds and rear surrounds are Klipsch 8ohm speakers. Would it be bad to use a Monolith 11x as an example to connect all of them using a Marantz 7706 Processor? Thanks for your time and hard work!

Your video was more helpful than many other videos I've watched trying to find an answer to a question related to matching a speaker for my Fender guitar amplifier. The amp is 4ohm 250 watts... and I have found an 8ohm 250 watt speaker. Am I correct in thinking it should work out alright? It's really difficult to find a guitar amp replacement speaker with 4ohms.... they tend to be mostly 8ohm speakers no matter the wattage. Most guitar amps are 8ohm, so the one I have is out of the "ordinary" at 4 ohms. Thanks.

I have an Onkyo tx nr5100 which is rated at 4-8 ohms. All my surround speakers and sub are rated at 8ohms. My question is if I can use 2 atmos speakers which is rated a 6ohms?? To note that when setting the amp it specifies 6 ohm or higher but i'm a bit confused. Can someone please give me the light. Thanks in advance.
