  • I think this is fine for someone less tech savvy...but it's still way cheaper to just get a used one and mod it yourself. The cheapest way might be to get a used Japanese 3DS. You can use homebrew to remove the region lock and change the language.
  • imo the modding process and adding the games yourself is the best part! i, weirdly like to wait on games to download- it just adds onto my excitement to play it and the fact it can all go in my pocket is amazing! i plan on getting one soon, though i do need a proper microsd card reader since the one i have occasionally crashed my card xd

I find it crazy 3ds have kept their value so well and even increased in value, before the pandemic a few years ago I'd see n3DS XL's for 150 tops and even lower, I was expecting prices to continue to decline, crazy they shot up and have kept their prices so high.
  • Almost 400$ for a modded 3ds with aftermarket shells is wild
  • I got a red "New" 3DS XL from a pawn shop. They listed it as a 3DS XL, I paid $175. Works perfectly, just has some cosmetic issues with the top and bottom plate. Paint peeling. I'm going to say it's a common issue. I modded it myself, with relative ease. It's actually quite surprising how easy it is to do.
  • You seem to be the only utuber that gives it straight on these types of things. Love your I tell it like it is not trying to pitch crap way of putting it out there
  • @frankc8689
Man I’d like to buy a new in box new 3ds Xl and give it a go. But i only ever stumble upon ridiculously over priced ones.
  • That’s why I love your videos whether they give you something or not you keep it real. Thank you.

Have you tried the Neo Geo Pocket emulator for DS? It's called NGPDS, it's not well known and not much is out there about it but since you have the Twilight menu I figured I'd mention it. It's really good!
  • @HW-ni5ib
I got one, honestly blew my mind on all the content! :)
  • Problem is not everyone has a computer to do it yourself. That's also a good reason why people buy these already made handhelds and even retro pi devices already made.
  • @sadeness
I can tell just looking at it it doesn’t have all games on it.3ds has a 300 title limit you need to use a program to split all the titles up into folders
  • @Griffnix
I've seen them before from another YouTuber and I checked it out. I was in the market for one but they didn't have have a standard New 3ds. I was looking for the smaller one. In the end, I decided to buy one on ebay and do it myself. I already did it twice before years ago.
  • I have a crimson new 3DS XL that I've been wanting to mod. It sounds like it wouldn't be too difficult to do. My main issue is what with Nintendo and even Sega cracking down on ROM sites, is it going to be a hassle getting ROMs? If this already comes preloaded with a a bunch of games, it might be a better option.
  • @chibisf4
Alternatively, you can also think about what games you would like to play and what it would cost you to buy them. 3D games are still affordable in most cases. Of course, I know that there is something like Outrun 3D, which you can no longer get.
  • @blackhatfreak
I'm gonna be honest, I know I can do it myself, but I don't have the time to do it; I'd rather pay for one that's done or higher someone ro do it.
  • @revcodessare
I'm glad I'm asian, I boggles me that the western market things are really expensive. I got my modded N3DS at local store for usd 170 converted, while you said it's 300 bucks, what a rip-off. I definitely got my money worth than buying retro games system that's all the rage now.
  • @nubatman
It's nice that every titled game is ready to play versus the present opening thing. Doesn't quite put the price value there for me.
  • I still use my Yoshi edition 3DS XL all the time. I've never really considered hacking it, but this video is really "tickling it" for me
