I welcome Anthony Irwin of Lakers Daily and the Lakers Lounge podcast to break down the Lakers’ coaching search and roster-building approach and answer a few mailbag questions.

Anthony and I discuss the latest on the coaching front, JJ Redick, the assistant coaches the Lakers are looking at, the most likely roster-building path, why LA should go all-in this summer, Darvin Ham interviewing with Golden State, how LA can acquire a better second big, how to build around LeBron James in the frontcourt, Cam Johnson, wing and big free-agent options, and more.

No mention of Goga Bitadze? Arguably the most intriguing free agent center option in our price range.

Given how the playoffs have gone, should the bar for the Lakers be different than, “are we good enough to beat Denver”

@jovan can you plz talk about the possibility of the lakers acquiring lauri from Utah plzzzz. I can’t find the mail bag

When Frank was hired, J Kidd and Lionel Hollins were the main assistants. When J Kidd left, the Lakers brought in Fizdale. In case Frank messed up and they had to fire him, one of the assistants could step in as a solid interim. I would not be surprised if they hired JJ as the head coach, Borrego or Cassell or both would also be hired as assistants

Jovan, do you think we have a chance of signing Demar De Rozan?

Good stuff right here. I’m still very perplexed that of all years - how did they get themselves in a situation where they are entering the weakest free agency, draft class, and coaching market in basketball’s history. That’s especially hard when balancing that with this being LeBron’s “free agency” and having their starting point guard in DLo on a player option. And all of this is happening when they’re in a very short window of needing to commit to winning now. That’s some very bad foresight and book-keeping. Pivotal offseason coming up.

Take Zach Edey with the 17th pick. He's better than any vet min or trade big out there. Still have 2 picks to upgrade the guard or wing position with a trade. This is a weak draft, so teams probably don't value this year's 17 pick very highly. Use it!

Fuck yeah Anthony and Jovan legendary combo 😂😂

Dejounte will end up being a Laker and they will find a way to do it without giving up Reaves. Dejounte and Reaves backcourt makes way more sense than DLo and Reaves.

@8:30 I completely disagree. You don’t need an experienced coach to tell you that, WHEN YOURE AN EX-PLAYER!! You should KNOW THAT!
  • LAuri Markenan & Collin Sexton... deal 3 firsts AR/Rui/JHS (remove top 5 protections on the 1st Utah already owns via LA)... make it happen Rob. 🙀🙀🙀
