I rolled all my clothes and ended up able to fit everything in a carry on. Yay for not having to pay for a suitcase!

for the most part very good ideas. I have found that rolling my clothes took up more room than having the least amount of folds as possible. For example, my tshirts can lay flat in my suitcase without a fold, then make sure all wrinkles are out, before putting the next article of clothing on top, etc. I can fit a TON of stuff this way!

Great video! The next step is learning how to hack travel to pay for flight in the first place. I've been using my travel credits cards and the insane bonuses associated with them to cover my airfare for over a year. I originally discovered the practice on Upgraded Points, and I'm sure there a ton of other resources out there also. Happy traveling!

Always go with the essentials when packing. Store toiletries in silicone containers like that from Roadeavour instead of bringing big containers. You'll be saving the environment when re-using bottle containers too!

That is a great way to destroy your headphones

HINT: wrap your socks or underwear in a plastic bag or ziploc before putting it inside your shoes... And the newspaper can leave some black makes on your clothes.

Which is better may depend on what benefit you want from using them. I use smaller inexpensive packing cubes to pack similar folded items together: shirts, pants, sweaters, underwear. I fold the items to the size of the bottom of the cube and fill it up completely. This allows me to travel for 7 or more weeks to many different hotels, with just a 22" carryon bag, and put outfits together every day. Without that internal structure in my bag I'd go nuts. Yes, when full they are firm and not the perfect shape for my bag, a little hard to pack around.. But the compression is helpful and the organization is essential.

the rolling method works really well. I was able to put 3 pairs of clothes excluding my sleepwear, a pair of shoes, an entire coconut, a jar of crisps, shaving kit, glasses, a bottle of perfume, tickets and sunglasses all in a single backpack
