If all things that come to pass were predetermined by God, the ten commandments would be nothing more than a means by which men are falsely accused of disobedience.

Your debate with Joel was very helpful. I have encouraged many people wrestling with calvinism to watch it. Joel stumbling quite badly over basic texts of Scripture really opened my eyes how calvinism doesn't come from the Word of God but from the filter men have created. God bless both you and Joel.
  • To put it in bullet-point simple terms: Determinism would mean that God is the only one responsible for causing anything and everything, either directly or indirectly. This would mean that, if Determinism is true, God would be responsible for our sins and we would have no responsibility (or punishable accountability) for anything. That all makes no sense, however, because the Bible makes it clear that God is perfect and man is held responsible for his actions. God is perfect. Man is to obey. Neither is possible in Calvinism. A being that causes sin isn't perfect. A being that cannot choose to love isn't obedient.

You and other Provisionists are doing such a wonderful service to the Church of Christ! Without capable defenders of the truth, like yourself, so many of us would be lost in the terrible wilderness of the heresy of Calvinism! Please don't cease your good work!
  • Best of the best…thank you Jesus for this man name Leighton Flowers…🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼

17:01 Some will say yes God does determine people to do sinful activities so He can have more opportunities to demonstrate His justice by punishing them, thereby bringing Him more glory. Sounds like sadism.

I'm curious about something. If the Calvinist Parent of a child scolds his/her child who had done something wrong and the child uses the excuse, "The Devil made me do it!", Does the Calvinist Parent scold his/her child even more and correct them and say "No, it wasn't the devil who made you do it. It was God who made you do it through his sovereign will!"?
  • Thank you for this great video. You’re making a huge difference!!!
  • You are on fire in a couple places here and it doesn't even have much to do with what you are countering. Praise God! I pray the Lord would use you like this even more on this channel. You are edifying the saints!

Brother Leighton, idk if the example of crocheting was hypothetical, but I could use a good crocheting page bc my wife loves it

No one ever got involved into calvinism just because of reading the scripture.
  • It seems to me that once one arrives at determinism, all rational discussion ceases. The answer to every question becomes "Because God determined it." My every thought has been determined and could not have been otherwise. My thoughts are really just God's thoughts, and so the thing I call "me" becomes superfluous. Determinism is so vacuous, untenable, and self-refuting – and contrary to fundamental human experience and the plain reading of every page of Scripture – that we wonder how anyone could accept it.
  • 23:00 Having created a being, made in his own image, and endowed with a genuine freedom to love, serve, and obey, or reject him outright, is no threat to a truly sovereign God. It is Calvin’s god who becomes impotent if confronted with a being or circumstances which he does not totally control.
  • The depiction of God as our heavenly father, which Christ portrayed, is absolutely perfect, (no surprise there). Consider how a father watching his small child in secret from behind the scenes is afforded a wonderful experience in waiting to discover what this child whom he loves so much is going to do next. If God created man with the genuine ability to freely choose his own actions it is quite possibly God's only real opportunity to experience anything beyond that which he totally controls. Considering that this is a description of mans nature, and the fact we are made in the image of God, it's no stretch to also consider God's desire for the same thing. It's no threat to his omnipotence or sovereignty. And considering his omnipotence and how he might choose to exercise his absolute power, it might possibly be his greatest source of joy or even the potential for great sadness, both of which are mentioned in scripture. It is also a conceivable diversion afforded from the worship of beings which he created for the sole purpose of worshiping him. But it cannot be said that creatures with a genuine freedom to choose are any threat to a truly sovereign God.

    I couldn’t resist leaving a comment 😁, God bless!
  • They hide behind this word "sovereignty". Rather than say exactly what they mean which is determinism they hide behind a word that doesn't mean what they infer it means and it's a good word for them to use because who is going to argue with the fact that our God is sovereign. It's bait and switch to me. The fear that this doctrine instills upon those who are trapped in this theology! "Why has God determined that we stand in food lines?" "Why has God determined that we are poor?" Why has God determined that my friends live a relaxed life of financial certainty?" "What did I do that was wrong?" These questions are true questions from myself before I left my church of 21 years and started attending a church that wasn't Calvinistic. My faith was literally almost gone. Hopelessness and despair were in my heart. This is my experience with Calvinistic doctrine.
