The fact that Emily Blunt refuses to do a Marvel or DC movie but agreed without hesitation to do a Gnomeo and Juliet sequel is genuinely funnier than any actual joke in the movie.

I remembered having a hugest crush on Sherlock Gnomes at the theaters when our summer camp took us for this movie, I repeat, I had a crush on a gnome who is based on a famous detective.

It still baffles me how good the animation and voice cast is for this sequel considering it's a film about Sherlock Holmes & Romeo & Juliet as garden gnomes. Why was any effort put in?

The creators of the movie could've literally chosen any one of Shakespeare's like 30 other plays if they really wanted to make a sequel to the Romeo and Juliet thing. They could've picked Othello, or A Midsummer Night's Dream, or Hamlet, but NO. THEY HAD TO DO A SHERLOCK MOVIE.

I saw this in theaters as a kid and the only original thing that stood out to me was how Watson betrayed Sherlock. It was very sinister for no reason and to me it made no sense why he did it. It also got me into Elton John music which is never a bad thing

Modern adaptations that make Irene Adler this Baddie are so weird to me. She was genuinely such a smart, kind (kinda) and cunning woman in the original, and extremely progressive for the time period. She was abused/extorted and technically didnt do anything wrong. And shows now make her, checks notes, a lesbian dominatrix or a sexy gnome, because god forbid a woman has power/gets higher up without being sexy (joke)
