On "My Car Story" we're in Wisconsin on 8-30-19.

We're looking at a 1978 Buick Regal Sport Coupe in Light Blue Paint. The car comes with the factory 3.8 Litre V6 engine.

The car's Owner is Steen Traxler. Steen’s had this car since 2017. Steen shares he saw this car on line, shared the picture with his wife and she said, “Buy it!” He respectfully followed her instruction and purchased the car.

ENJOY!

As a 70's baby I remember seeing lots of these in the 80's as a kid. A great time capsule. Thanks for sharing Lou.

Love these particular era of GM personal luxury cars; Buick Regal, Oldsmobile Cutlass, Pontiac Grand Prix, and Chevrolet Monte Carlo. So many variations and paint schemes. These were everywhere, but my family always opted for a four door sedan for obvious reasons...kids! Nice survivor. Thanks Lou!

Love this car. Buick Regals were my favorite car back in the 70's. Never really cared about other opinions that differerd. After all people like what they like. So yes.I loved the body style and the way it drove. I owned one like this and a 1976.. Beautiful cars.
  • Lou, it’s amazing how many cars you’ve presented that I have either direct or related experience with (yes , I’m old). I owned a non turbo same gen Regal. It wasn’t very quick but was very comfortable and looked great, like Buicks still do. I had it for 9 years, until the motor locked up. Anyway once again you brought back some great memories. Thanks!

Always loved the "Limited" designation. Was limited to the number of people who ordered it 😅. This beauty absolutely screams 70's....

Love the turbo coupes, Lou and this one is looking very nice.
  • That’s a nice Buick. I’m sure the Feller’s Better-half enjoys driving it. My Granddaddy owned Buicks. I’ve only seen two of them during my life, my Mama saw many more. Chevrolet during the same years put the turboed 3.8 V-6 in the Monte Carlo as well. That car is so rare I’ve only seen one, and that was in an advertisement in a car magazine.

I had two Buick Regals. They were both in this era, the late 70s, early 80s. The one with a 4.9 V8 was quick for that time period.
  • Just saw this- well done- well preserved and what a great time and car!

When I was 11, WE were on a family vacation and Dad got me up at 10PM and took me to the car dealership, while my Mom slept. This was the car I wanted him to buy.... I was so damn excited because these cars had just a tinge of European style with all the big car feel of a Buick. I was so pissed when he showed up with a four door, 307, skylark! But, that was it! It wasn't a v8. Two years later, he showed up with a two door LaSabre…… It was all good after that. Love these Buicks. BTW, the feature I thought was so cool was how the radio protrudes out from the dash.... Like a little bookshelf..... Yeah, the things 11 year old kids think are cool! Thanks for bringing us this car! Brings back a ton of good memories. BTW, what you guys said about the interior, is so true. My Dad special ordered both cars with cloth interior.... rather than leather in the LaSabre. it's like sitting on pillow furniture. Loved that car..... From an era when a Buick was still a BUICK! The last of their kind.

That thing is amazing! So nice to see an all original example. Very smart choice to buy it!

I always had a love of the GM A-bodies growing up. I came across a 1979 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme Brougham for sale that I bought and loved. It had a 350 V-8 and t-tops. I loved that car, but I sold it after a few years because it was starting to rust. I could kick myself now because as it turned out, they only made about 2,000 of them like that. It was a Hurst/Olds.

Thanks for posting this Lou, I always loved these cars, I owned a 1978 olds cutlass supreme, same color combo, mine had the 305 v-8 with 4bbl carb, but very similar styling to the buick, but yes it drove like a dream, that one is a rare bird compared to my cutlass, but love the styling back then :)

Cool car! Another great find, Lou! Love the red snorkel getting your attention under the hood to show off the fact that it's a turbo; unfortunately, I'm old enough to remember those new. (I could do without the baby-blue theme, but I guess that's part of the appeal).

Plush Velour seats need to be an option on modern cars. Leather freezes your butt in the winter (I know they have heated seats, but it still has to warm up) and burns it in the summer. Velour is comfortable 365 days a year the moment you get in.
