Independence of the Seas - Sail away day with rough seas

Published 2023-05-29
We are back on board Royal Caribbean's ship Independence of the Seas. Join our VLOG as we do a 4 night/5 day cruise to the Bahamas. While it's our 2nd time sailing on the Independence, we continue to discover new activities and places on the ship. We'll take you from the now defunct Sky Pad to washy-washy at Windjammer and offer up some tips when it comes to messaging on the Royal app. Amy gets a surprise from Royal Caribbean for her birthday when the room is decorated. Plus see just how crazy things get when the ship encounters rough seas and who is able to fair best. It's our first time sailing with friends @,ryebreads4, who are first time cruisers, and that brings everybody out of their shells. Elevator buttons, wedding parties, model ships, and of course Sorrento's pizza. It's all inside. Enjoy!

We will be on this ship in about a month, only the second Royal ship I have been on. Been on Harmony twice and have cruised with other companies. Only a short cruise this time but it’s to celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary. Looking forward to a short relaxing break. Ship looks to have a lot to do on it still.
  • I dont mind rough seas. Recently cruised out of Cape Liberty up to Greenland and Iceland on Celebrity and we encountered 9 to 12 foot seas for 2 das. Wasn’t bad though and neither of us got sick, I never do. We will have videos coming from that trip some time in the next few weeks.

  • Rough seas seem to have effected everyone but you! Love how you always make the best of every situation. Hope the rest of the week was better for the rest of the crew! Did you get your ship model? You didn’t pay off that storyline yet! Good stuff as usual! 😜👍👍👍

Thanks for the content. It's hard to find a vlog that give real details of the ship. To be honest, this ship doesn't have the same amplification as Freedom does. It feels old and outdated. The solarium feels closed in as does the rest of the ship. My husband was expecting the jogging track to be on a different level like Oasis but I see it's on the top deck that winds around the lounge chairs. Now the Sky Pad is closed?! The kids lounge is very boring and don't see my kids using it. I booked this cruise because of the sailing date and of the lesser cost. I prefer Freedom but my family of 11 is all booked and set for this cruise. I'm really trying to stay positive, it's just difficult when so many expectations are not met. Though I am interested in trying Fish and Chips, the refreshment package and watching a bit of Grease. Also, does the ship even have a silent party? My family and I went to one last year and it was a fun activity to burn late night energy. Knowing all of this I wouldn't have booked my cruise with this ship. Is there at least short lines for everything and did you feel the ship was spacious enough for the guests?
