Let's watch & explain a deep teeth cleaning, also known as SRP, or scaling and root planing! Planning a deep cleaning procedure? Scaling and root planing (SCRP) procedures are predominantly used to combat active periodontal disease. With deep cleanings, what to expect typically includes at least two separate appointments focused on one side of your mouth at a time. Unlike a traditional dental cleaning, deep teeth cleanings are specifically for addressing soft and calcified deposits settled deep under the gums, along the roots of infected teeth. Local anesthetic is frequently used to ensure patient comfort. Learn more: www.teethtalkgirl.com/dental-health/deep-cleaning-…

  • Hi everyone! I am a 28 year old guy who has serious dental anxiety that kept me from the dentist for atleast the last 10 years. Needless to say, I had some SERIOUS plaque build up. Well today I had a deep cleaning just like this! My bottom front teeth were in a very bad shape I could basically not see them. And i’m alive!!! I feel better about my teeth than I ever have. There was almost no pain in most places while doing the procedure, any of the pain came from the scraping but that was just more uncomfortable than anything. If you’re having any second thoughts, please trust me on this. I am someone who suffers from anxiety and panic attacks very easily and it REALLY isn’t that bad. Like seriously, it was not at all what I thought it would be. You can do this!!!!! Don’t talk yourself out of it, you have an opportunity to be brave!
  • I'm 48. Literally just had this procedure complete a couple hours ago. Totally worth it! The only discomfort was the needle to numb me. If the dentist says you need this type of cleaning, DO IT!

I just got this done over the last two days. The doctor didn’t recommend numbing my whole mouth at one time. $600 procedure. I had this done when I was 36 and now again at 44. Kids, teenagers and young adults. Please take care of your dental hygiene at home. Dental work is not cheap. If you don’t have dental insurance, still go to the dentist and a regular cleaning is only $150.

That was neat, and accurate. 65 yrs old and had my first deep clean today. A piece of cake! I love modern dentistry.

This saved my life. Like literally. Had a 7mm pocket that was full of ooze. Had it dug out today. I got my life back. I was in total misery for three days. I was mentally prepared for an extraction or root canal but am happy to report that all I needed was a deep cleaning.
  • They told me I need this and it scares me. This video made me feel much better about the idea of having this done. Thank you.
  • I had this done in one session, well worth it! Mouth health is so important! I follow up with water flosser a few time a week. Reg flossing too.
  • Today I had my first deep cleaning appointment, I was very scared and worried because I watched a lot of videos and this is the first time in my life that I do a deep cleaning, because I had a bad experience with the dentist before. The cleaning was done without anesthesia, and there was no pain, and I did not feel anything, thank God. Please do not be afraid and tell your doctor before starting treatment about your fears

When I was little I had cavities filled with no numbing and ever since then I have had severe anxiety when it comes to the dentist. It’s been over five years since I’ve been. I had a consultation done today for a cleaning and was told they need to do scaling and root planing. Needless to say my anxiety doesn’t like it but this video did help a little as I thought there was worse things going to happen. They will also be giving me laughing gas to calm my anxiety but this video has really helped. Thank you.

You are very informative... great videos! Just a week ago I had the deep cleaning and scaling treatment. Having a procedure done and seeing how it is done are very helpful and informative. Thank you! : )
  • I went over 25 years without a visit. Finally bit the bullet and had severe periodontal disease but zero cavities. 3 and a half hours of scaling over 2 days and it was done. I considered the fact I didn't need any additional work a gift and have taken great care ever since. First 3 month follow up is in about 2 weeks and I'm looking forward to it. You videos have helped me through to continue good practices.
  • @Undefined9
Had all four quadrants done yesterday and today. Had bad anxiety over this, but my hygenist was amazing and gave me great after care and future care advice. This type of procedure is very simple and fast with the technological advancements in place. Remember; your hygenist is the first line of defense to avoid financially heart-stopping dental work!
  • Thank you! You encouraged me to get back on track with dental hygiene. Just had the first cleaning in years and fortunately only need a filling that is 15 years old replaced.
  • @MC-yx9oe
I have to go in for this tomorrow and was very scared. This video and the comments have helped to reassure me a bit

As someone who is anxious when it comes to the dentist , these clean ups are fast and very effective … if you never had a deep clean although pricey I recommend to anyone you won’t regret it
  • @reaper-sz5tm
Just had my first cleaning in 8 years, ended up being a deep cleaning. Had a lot of pockets in the 4-6 range and it was pain free, honestly only took about 30-45 minutes. It’s been 4 hours since I left and my mouth is still numb, that’s the most annoying part. It’s not a bad procedure, trying to get it done and get back into the habit of going to the dentist every 6 months instead of once every several years. Take care of your oral hygiene!
  • Not a fan of dentists either. Had three injections today which seemed to last forever!😢 Those were the worst part, the rest was pretty easy. The numbness wore off with minimal pain. Next month, getting the left side done. So happy to have it taken care of🤩
  • @MaddenKizer
I've had dental scaling and root planing done on my teeth twice. Once was done at a dental school. I have a cleft lip and palate, so I have scar tissue on the roof of my mouth. The student who did my cleaning did a nice job, and her teacher told me that my case was a great experience for the student because when the student goes into practice, she may have to help other people like me. The cleaning took a little longer, but we got it done.
