When I was 12 years old many years ago I had my tonsils and adenoids removed. I had to miss school for a full week. I remember waking up after the surgery and I was a little sore. It was my very first time getting surgery done. My parents were actually surprised that I was able to talk after the surgery was done. After a few hours in recovery I was told I could go home. For the remainder of the recovery time I had at home I was in a lot of pain. I had pain that I felt from my ears throat and neck. My doctor said that that's normal of course. I was only allowed to eat and drink soft foods like milkshakes, smoothies, slurpees, mashed potatoes, and ice cream that's pretty much what I ate and drank for the whole week. Then after the week was over I was pretty much back to my normal routine. Except I couldn't participate in gym class for a week when I went back to school. My doctor said that my tonsils were definitely huge. I guess it's a good thing they were removed.

Just got my adenoids removed this Tuesday. Throat hurts alot. Should I be swallowing my saliva because I've been having alot more than usual, or do I spit it out? Is it possible that I choke on my saliva? Is it normal that I can't open my mouth very wide without weird pain? And how long will it take for my throat to stop hurting?
  • Just got mine out day 2 hurts it like a roller coaster good then bad then good and bad

My throat really hurts. It hurts real bad even if I just swallow saliva. Is it tonsils?? Also I never had surgery for tonsils(if it is) but it kept going away and then coming back, usually once a year. Is that normal?
