Poor Mr. Anthony. Having to deal with three of the biggest egos in music history.
  • @MrChiprocks1
Fantastic episode. The ENTIRE documentary is phenomenal! Loved it from start to finish. As for what you should do next. Honestly, I think it's pretty easy. Do the Van Hagar years while also doing the DLR years (Eat 'em and Smile anyone?) and once you knock those out, you then have the Reunion Tour with DLR story to tell. Anyone else with me on this?!
  • @merlozeppelin
This is amazing, excellent production, funny, amazing editing, this is better than most big budget studio backed documentaries out there.
  • @Twotontessie
Fascinating that Ed and Dave showed up in public together as late as April of that year. That was a new twist I didn't know about. I thought it was all over by then.

I lived in North Hollywood in the mid 80s. I remember seeing Ed driving in his Lamborghini on Ventura Blvd many times. He rented video tapes at a place called " 20/20 Video " by the Ralphs supermarket off of Ventura like we did. I went in there once with my Dad and the guy at the counter asked " Do you like Van Halen ? " I of course said " YEA "... He said , " Well , there he goes ! " Ed was walking out the door. I just watched. I would've never approached him when I was 15. I wish now that I would've at least tried !!! Lol

Thank you TheTapesArchive, for this documentary, and all of the research, the hard work, the edit, and the crazy that went on getting this to the people. I truly love this doc. So much appreciation to you! Can’t wait to see what you have in store for the future. Take care. Wishing you the best!
  • @briank6789
Outstanding series! Thank you for this! My favorite was Mikey's thought bubble "I wish Ed looked at me like that." That actually spoke a thousand words.
  • @bakura227
Thanks TTA, great job as always. We appreciate your hard work. The AI voicing Dave's printed quotes was amazing!
  • @toddkloes478
These are wonderfully made and a treasure for true VH fans. Thank you for doing these
  • @ThreeToesofFury
Alan....THANK YOU IMMENSELY for this incredible documentary. Ive read a LOT of Rock bios and watched a ton of rock docs and this one is, hands down, one of the best ive seen. Your level of research combined with great story telling chops and amazing editing/effects...just...wow. The fact that you pulled this off without formal backing AND having to pivot and edit the final product to accommodate a dissenter (sigh) and still come up with this amazing historical time capsule is really something special. I will be rewatching this endlessly and spreading it to all my music loving buds. You are the best...keep on creating...its your calling. Peace .n. VH (symbol drawn on all my old school folders) 3tof

Thank you Van Halen and thank you TTA for putting this amazing documentary together! Cheers! 🎉

I have never heard a more perfect synopsis of Eddie and Dave’s relationship than what you said at the 27:11 mark “In the beginning….” That is exactly spot on! The best partnerships are where people bring different but equally as strong skillsets to the cause. Dave was the quintessential Rock Star and Eddie was the mad genius. But like most partnerships that thing that makes them great is also what makes tears then apart. I respect and appreciate both men, I don’t blame either. It was what it was. RIP Eddie, and thank you both for being the soundtrack of my youth!
  • Amazing video!! I know someone already said it but the ending almost brought tears to my eyes. Van Halen is a legendary band!! RIP Eddie, you are very missed. Still can't believe he's gone.
  • @joelcrowservo
Wow, I’m just speechless. I can only hope the band sees this, and the comments and realizes how much Van Halen is loved and how important they are. This isn’t just some fucking rock band; this is the mighty Van Halen. Long live the King!
  • @mdlandry28
I believe the 'reference' was an episode of "The Bionic Woman" being filmed in the backyard of David Lee Roth's fathers house. Several VH photo shoots were done here as well.
  • @Craig5150EVH
I really really really...cant express my appreciation for this docu. As a monster fan of Van Halen...this just kicked some ass !!!! Thanks a ton for all the hardwork !! ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
  • @Vampyre_Media
I love all Van Halen. Yes, even the Gary Charone time. This is a great tribute to that particular time period in Van Halen's career. I would love to see more episodes from the other eras in the amazing VH career. 🤘

This was a fantastic documentary! I learned quite a bit. I was a young kid back then so in the late 80s when i brought this up only had word of mouth to go by. Thank you so much for this amazing video!
