  • Foods: cereals, chips, white bread, hotdogs, ketchup & pop.
  • I just completed my first 36 hour fast. I ordered your book "Fast Like A Girl"-can't wait to get it in the mail. I am so excited!
  • Dr. Pelz I felt your message to your father. When my mom came out of the hospital for a fall she was like a different person. An independent senior now she can't even work the TV remote control. Don't know what they injected into her but had an effect on her brain. Now I'm her full time care giver. I'm glad to have found you on my YouTube homepage!

I love how you are speaking to your Dad. I’ve tried to give my Dad this information!
  • Can you also address this issue for children? Parents are loading their kids up the same way and sending them off to school where they crash after a few hours.

My mum has full cognitive function aged 86, grows her own veggies, makes her own soup, pies, fresh meals, never drunk a soda in her life (tea with a slice of lemon) she does eat white bread, but often makes her own. She does have sugar in her tea and does have non sugary cereal, which I've tried to get her off! But she says it's natural (shredded wheat ??). Her older sister had dementia for about 8 years, which lead to her death finally, it was hard for her family to see the comparison of cognitive function of my mum, compared to her sister!

I'm new to your channel and I'm enjoying watching you! I'm 58 yrs, am able to cook/bake for myself and eat a fairly healthy diet but have started the 16:8 intermittent fasting with the hopes it will help shed a few unwanted pounds. I've switched to Hero bread which is plant based, high in protein and zero to low carb. I gave up processed foods and snacks a while back. Why? Dementia/Alzheimer's is in my family and I was their caretaker for six years. I watched what that disease does to our brains/bodies and the people we love and it was excruciatingly stressful and depressing to watch them slowly disappear and fade away. If that isn't inspirational enough for me to eat as healthy as my budget will allow, then the price tag that comes with dementia is! I'm not just talking the financials either (which can be $6-8,000 a month for memory care in my state) but the emotional and mental stresses too. IMO, our nation's health care system isn't set up for the numbers that are coming in for dementia suffers. Due to the high costs of memory care facilities, it is usually the ageing spouse or family member becoming the caretaker. That's if a person is blessed enough to have a spouse or family member who's able to assist them. Can you imagine the number of individuals that are dealing with this alone? with no financing? possibly ending up in a state-run nursing home which is already overburdened, understaffed and underpaid? I say all this to help people understand that this disease is not only traumatic to the individual who has it but their whole family/friends. It's real, it's deadly and it's costly in so many ways. Change your eating habits, even just a little here and there to start. Yes, it's more expensive to eat healthy and you may have to go to the store a couple more times a week to keep buying fresh produce, but YOU ARE WORTH IT! I don't say this lightly as my budget is limited and I don't like going to the store more than once a week myself 😂but I'm motivated to be my healthiest self I can be and that includes my brain too! Thank you Dr. Mindy for getting the word out there!

I heard about keto about 13 years ago when a doctor I know was using it for her son with severe cerebral palsy

Honestly, my husband getting diagnosed with Celiac disease was a saving grace. I use to preach to him like Dr. Mindy is preaching to her father. It wasn't until he followed along with me in eating whole foods that his whole gut changed. He was diagnosed in May of 2021 and today he's a changed man. No more cluster headaches, inflammation, constant stomache issues, etc. The body DOES want to heal itself and it will IF you feed it what it needs. Great video.:-)

I recall in the early 80’s a coworker who was a huge fan of the Monkees band who also confessed her only diet was Captain Crunch cereal! Pure sugar!
  • It is horrible that big food creates this crap for people to eat, but the bottom line is that people choose to eat it. The responsibility lies with what people choose to purchase and then put in their body. These videos you do are very educational, and I hope it helps many people to understand why they need to make a change.
  • So easy to make some changes to our diet in order to help ourselves! Thanks for sharing this important information.

I really appreciate that you apologized for swearing, and that you bleeped it out. It’s become so commonplace nowadays, but it’s still nails on a chalkboard to many of us. Thank you for continuing to empower us in obtaining optimal health!
  • The poor dog thinks it's being admonished. I do hear your message and know you're being emphatic here, Mindy (importantly!). Thanks for the content. Spot on!
  • @vj563
Dr. Mindy you are a blessing. Thank you. 💕

The food like substance in the store is a problem, but it’s the one’s that go into the body that is the real issue Yes it is addictive. I just leave it on the shelf, at least almost always.
  • Watching this while snacking on local grown musk melon and blue berries. I am so glad I found your channel and books. Finally got my sister to fast and eat healthy after she saw how it worked for me. 40 lbs down and feeling fantastic
