  • I use a magnet to get them up part way and then I grab them with a large set of hose pliers. Makes the job pretty easy.
  • @TheFrameoff
You have a pair of spark plug wire pliers , they would work good
  • How many lifters are there I'm guessing 6 but I just wanna know before I open it up Im gonna buy the lifters ahead of time

Are you putting in a different grind of cam in than stock?
  • @codysilv95
Is there a specific way the lifters go in I'm getting ready to replace mine just bought the new ones I noticed there is one little hole on the side
  • Your wrong. Bad lifters compress, good lifters stay solid like this. Lifters work by using oil pressure to push a small plunger up against the pushrod creating zero valve lash. They have a check valve keeping oil pressure internal and keeping that zero clearance after the engine is turned off so you don’t have lifter tick when first starting your engine. If the check valve is bad the lifter will lose pressure and your engine will tick when fist starting, it’ll go away once oil pressure builds up and the lifter can correct the valve lash. If the lifter plunger spring is bad the only way to tell is how much play is in the pushrods and rocker arms. It’s really hard to tell if the lifter is bad just by pushing on the push rod cap. You know for sure it’s bad if it collapses, (and you know it’s been getting oil) but your never sure if it’s bad if it doesn’t have any play. The only definitive way to check your lifters is to check how much valve train play there is.
