  • B. Too many people, too crowded, too many people in port. I think large cruise ships are one of the reasons some people in some ports are protesting cruise ships coming to their cities.
  • I like the mega ships because it keeps those people off the older smaller ships. The very ships I book

    B. I think there is just something so special about seeing the same people day after day on board. You start seeing other passengers and staff with routines, you can easily find a seat at a show or eat at whichever restaurant sounds good that day! Disembarking (especially tender ports) is remarkably easier, and I find the workers are able to remember your name much more easily than on massive ships. Not to mention bar lines and the amount of time it takes to maneuver around the ship, which, in the end, you'd have to have your days rigidly structured and that is NOT the way the majority of cruisers travel. I go on cruises to enjoy and relax, not stress about the above scenarios! I'll stick to my small-mid sized Norwegian ships, thank you. :)
  • B - B - B. Itโ€™s really no fun when there are so many people that you cannot enjoy your time on a cruise. The pools are full, the dining venues are full, and the noise level is ramped up. Now you see many large families in one room. I also feel bad for the crew as it is so difficult for them to take care of so many people, especially the room attendants.
  • Definitely B....I donโ€™t want to cruise with the entire population of a town.
  • B. I went on the Mardi Gras earlier this year. Having all the bells and whistles is not worth sacrificing on service, having long wait times for โ€œanytimeโ€ dining in the MDR, not being able to get a good seat - if at all - at the shows. I was excited when I heard that Carnival was adding five new ships, until I realized that three of them are in their excel class and two of them are insanely larger. The whole purpose of going on vacation is to. RELAX not to have to stress and wait in line all the time.

B...I live by the Jersey shore. If I want to be stuck with large crowds and rude people from other states,I'll just go to the boardwalk.
  • B This is why the ports are balking at so many cruise ships.
  • B: I will never travel on a super large cruise ship. Iโ€™m a happy introvert of sorts. โ€œThe more people, the merrierโ€ is not my motto.
  • BBBB I have over 60 cruises under my belt, have 2 cruises booked in the next 10 months. I will never sail on a mega ship. Too many people and too many crew.
  • @ae6888
A big B, Super mega ultra large ships are so overwhelming and impersonal. One of the biggest joys of cruising is being out on the open water, and having beautiful sea views, not walking through Cavernous Courtyards and giant roller coasters.
  • @johnkufer4190
    B. That is why we are seeing some ports limiting the number of ships in ports.
  • @Dave17101
Definitely B, the mega ships are angering ports that are not created just for cruise ships and making for lower quality service. Mega ships all seem to go to the same ports or private islands and it gets old. The Carvival mega ships, when they arrive, will have me checking to make sure my ship is not in port at the same time they are.
  • @cue881-yo7kz
B Just because the ship can hold that many people most of the infrastructure cannot. It results in crazy long lines and slow embarkation processing. Think of what Carnival will face with 8,000 passenger ships. What do you think traffic at the port will be like every time they show up>
  • @Susan-hr5qj
B-I like the smaller ships. I donโ€™t need all the bells and whistles.
