WWE Smackdown! vs Raw 2006 was released at the end of 2005. New gameplay mechanics were introduced such as the stamina meter, more pre-match mini games, and an overhaul to the Dirty / Clean system which let players wrestle matches like a babyface or a heel. The game also received a significant graphical boost with entrances and character models looking more realistic than ever. Legends such as Stone Cold Steve Austin and Hulk Hogan made their Smackdown game return, and fans could choose from main roster favourites such as John Cena, Dave Batista, Triple H, Edge, Shawn Michaels and Triple H.

WWE Smackdown vs Raw 2006 introduced grapple fans to a brand new mode that would prove to be quite popular; GM Mode. Fans could now book matches and call the shots backstage while competing against the opposing brand for TV Ratings supremacy.

This game looks at the PS2 version of Smackdown vs Raw while also taking a quick look at the ambitious PSP port.

  • The fact that the options menu lets you take off new features if you want and doesn't penalize you in the story modee makes it amazing alone.
  • @BlackoutStarman
The soundtrack on the svr games were so good. First thing that I think of when it comes to these classics.

"There's no way I'm taking that bump, brother!" Made me laugh, just perfect commentary there!

This is one of my favorite Smackdown vs Raw games. The buried alive match was fun to play. Also the locker room setup for this game was great.
  • @RichManZ
As much as I love HCTP I would have to say this is the best Smackdown Game in the series. The realism , the gameplay, caws and story contribute to make this game Legendary.
  • @KingGoku32794
That ECW invasion in this game was my favorite Storyline

When I was a kid, this game could do no wrong. I remember only feeling fulfilled fully with SvR 2006, 2008, 2010, and WWE 13. GM mode was so great.
  • @GeekCritique
Goes to show just how much depth this one had... SvR 2006 was probably my most-played PS2 game, and I barely touched GM mode!

SVR 2006 was my ALL TIME favorite WWE game. By far. Im 31 now and if I can get my hands on a ps2 and a copy of SvR 2006.... Its on! 😂

One of my favorite games ever. It's up there with No Mercy on the nostalgia I have for it and how many hours I put into it.
  • @KaijuBoy31
This episode was so well-written and edited. Brilliant. Looking forward to more videos like this!

So much nostalgia for this one, I think it was the first WWE game I got whenever it was new & it was & still is a genuinely good game. Got it for PS2 back in the day & enjoyed the heck out of it, if only the newer WWE games could put as much content & effort this & the older games had.

I got this emulated on my Steam Deck, still very fun to play today especially as a fan of that era.

This channel needs a “Reliving the War” recap on all these story modes.
  • @mrmoviemanic1
GM Mode SVR 06-08 is so good that 2k22 added it back and felt so lifeless and still does.
  • @Venemofthe888
After watching YumBoy playing through the game and going through the betas and hidden characters made me much more interested in these games
  • @RBRSC
I would say around the time, they probably were short on taglines. There was no Rock putting out catchphrases left and right. SvR "Hustle Loyalty and Respect" or SvR "Lie cheat and steal" doesn't quite flow, and some of the guys on top at the time didnt even really have a catchphrase (Batista for instance)
  • One of my favorites still not over here come the pain but it’s definitely in my top 3 wwe games I’ve ever played in my life idc what anyone says the soundtrack was absolutely amazing that’s how I got introduced in to rock and metal music and it’s honestly a treasure to play this game
