California prisons had a big White and Hispanic population and those guys would jump blacks who were just on their own serving time FOR NO REASON. United Blood Nation formed in prison to combat that and shut it down and they were successful. The bloods wouldn’t have been a thing though, if the crips, the only big gang of African Americans at the time weren’t terrorizing the streets to where teens felt like they needed protection from these crip sets which were the biggest and terrorizing everyone, and then the Pirus were born, before there was bloods. West side pirus as well… later would be known as the bloods after a few major moves Crips wouldn’t have formed if Blacks weren’t segregated against and belittled by the government where young guys couldn’t join the Boy Scouts or other orgs aimed at developing young men due to the racial climate… and abuse from cops etc.. they were looking for an outlet and it happened to be eachother because they weren’t accepted anywhere else… Black gangs never formed out of money. You get a job. They were created by 17 year olds at the time who grew into adults maturing the organizations.
