This is the first car Sam bought that will not have a head gasket issue! GL!

when sam started to actually clean a car I knew it would lead into the sponsored segment

Actually one of the best Tesla vidoes I've seen, in terms of second hand usage.

My daily driver is a 2015 model S I picked up for $13k out the door. After the tax credit, under $10k. Threw some new tires and it’s good to go. Honesty blown away by how impressed I am with the car. Keep in mind they’re cheap for a reason, if the battery goes out, you’re looking at $10k to replace it. But hey, these things regularly reach 200k+ miles. Mine had 78k when I bought it and now it’s at 95k and running great. Something really cool about getting into my car every morning and it being at a “full tank”.

There are some screaming good deals on used EVs but it is really important to do a little homework if the sales price isn't in your "play money" budget. Every EV has at least one fan/owner's group, and their forum will tell you what kind of issues to look for when checking out a car. 8 years ago I bought my first EV, a 2011 Nissan LEAF with a weak battery. The seller let me take it to a dealer for a diagnostic test where I learned the battery was still under warranty. I bought the car for a song, had the battery replaced for free, and my cousin's kid now commutes in it every day having accumulated about 120,000 miles on it.

Somehow, I visualized Rich turning green with envy.

Enjoyed watching your video. I bought a 2015 S85D from Tesla in April 2019. Paid $45K. The car had 12,004 miles and it came with the same warranty as a new car, 4 years or 50,000 miles, and free lifetime supercharging! About a month ago had to replace the lower front end. I’m not a mechanic so had it towed to the Tesla service center. It was $1,800. It’s the first expense I had since I got the car. Love my car.

What a steal! Very nice car. Surprised how easy the Tesla service was.

We live in Spain where Teslas are popular, particularly as taxis. I was in one the other day and saw it had 500K km on it, or just over 300K miles.

Great video, thank you for this one. I appreciate your insight on the electric cars and all of the details showing us how you repaired things.

Want a vacuum? I got the Bissell stick vac for $99 and it pulled one of my socks right off my foot. It comes with 2 attachments and is so strong that you have to turn it down or it actually sticks to the carpet and makes it hard to push. I forget the model number, but if anyone wants it, I fetch up the number for you pronto. The only thing I don't like is that the micro filter needs to dry after you clean it. It filters the smallest dirt particles and therefore gets dirty. I wash mine with a sink sprayer and let it dry for the next day. It also is easy to charge and the battery weighs a ton. Get one. If you hate it, bring it back. Think of it as a test drive. Fantastic machine.

You bought a 2nd generation Model S which has a lot of improvements over the 1st which has Mercedes controls on the steering column including turn signal lever down low on the left. 1st generation barely has cruise control and single rear wheel motor. No autopilot, no adaptive cruise control. I had a 2013 Model S 85 for 10 years. Surprised for as long as that car sat on the lot the 12v battery was ok. The key fob would have done nothing if the 12v was dead. Pull the front “grill” off to access 12v boost terminals.

Those screw heads on the fuse cover looked like they had not seen a screwdriver in some time?….

I have no clue how I found your channel and even subscribed to it, but your videos have been great and now I even find myself looking to see if anything new has been posted. Thank you for what you do…
  • @dagadagad
Nice that you gave a second life to this machine. These can easily go 500k+ miles.

The cows reaction: "Nice new brush, those mirrors will reach that spot under the neck".

Sam I had one in Rural Australia for 4 days after dropping a buddy off at the airport and drove the wheels off it, Bit over 200 miles to and from the airport and with regen braking and plotting where the charge stations were just in case it was a cruisy ride. Plugged in the slow charger overnight and had 100 ish miles to play with the next day and apart from some range angst when I went to pick him up 4 days later I enjoyed my time with the thing. I think you have to experience the engineering first hand and although im not planning on buying one used or new im now more open to the idea, Until then? My A32 Maxima or Series 1 300TD Disco will do :-)
