How to visually remove a tree stump quickly with a shovel and a chainsaw. Small to medium size trees can be done in 5 minutes or less.

I have property with hundreds of trees. This method has saved me time and money. I have been doing this for years. This method puts the stump below the ground surface which can then be backfilled with a little dirt. Over time, you can add a little more dirt if the ground starts to sink in where the stump decomposes. This may not work in your situation, but for me, it's fantastic!

You should change the title to "how to bury a stump" since you didn't remove it at all.

Loving the invisible eye and ear protection. Must be very comfortable to wear.

Hahaha! Oddly enough this actually wound up being the answer I’m going to go with

SPOILER ALERT. He cuts if off at ground level and throws dirt over it. He doesn't actually REMOVE the stump. So if you want to actually REMOVE the stump, then skip this.
  • Yup, that works for me!!! I'm going to do this on my Lilac tree stump after realizing the roots are way too difficult. Thanks!

The last time I used a chainsaw without goggles I got a wood chip in my eyeball.

An old neighbor who was an estate manager told me something similar BUT with the exception of over-applying an inexpensive bag of fertilizer (think like 2 or 3 cups for your stump) to help burn away and aid a faster decomposition of the underground stump..

Fantastic! I'm about to give this a try in a few mins. Great video to see beforehand.

I've done this with a couple of palm trees that were in my backyard positioned like goal posts. Same technique just added extra top soil to make a mound and threw some turf on top. After about 6 months, the ground eventually levelled out with healthy grass already established like it was never there.

Better pull that little green twig or that sucker will grow back. Very useful information πŸ‘πŸ½

That's really clever. I will be wearing safety glasses and ear protection for at least the chain saw part. The noise from those chain saws are deafening.

This is the best DIY video on YouTube! It worked and the grass already grew back you can't even tell it was there.
  • @FranksDIY
I did it the hard way lol. dug down and cut it at the roots and pulled it out with pickup
  • @Visceral.

If you drill a couple of holes, don`t have to be deep, then pour some kind of killer then cover it will rot faster
  • everyone in the comments suddenly became professional tree stump removers lmao
  • Also, after a little while and with rain, the soil subsides around the stump and there it is again!
