  • Buying all those fighters and ships is great, but you also need to find the crews for them and that ain't cheap. You have to factor in pilots and crews. Not everyone who worked in the Rebellion was an idealist, they hired a lot of mercenaries to bring specific skills to the table. That, I think is where a lot of cash would go here.
  • I feel the 80 million credits is a big win for an earlyish point in the rebellion. 80 million buys them tools they can use to gain even more credits. It's like the initial boost that could snowball out from there

I dont understand why people thought this heist was about intel or money for Imperials. What I understood from Luthen saying payroll for an entire Imperial sector was simply stealing money that was supposed to be for an entire Imperial sector for the Rebellion
  • Andor gave me Rouge One tones & Solo heist vibes. And I really enjoyed it. SW has finally found the best formula to make a story: Find a character, drop a camera in his life, and boom. you got a story. It's simple, but works so well

I was really hoping that the space AK would be a slug thrower

Speaking of money and episode six of Andor, I'm interested in the amount of pay for the Imperial military...
  • @Ben-Ken
I wouldn't have split the money with Skeen. He can't be trusted to not kill me or rat me out later. Also, both the empire and the rebels will be looking for me. Even with 80 million credits, the galaxy starts to become much smaller as I keep looking over my shoulders.

I personally really enjoyed the spreadsheet segment
  • @Toidal
It's not just about the money, it's about sending a message. Also greasing palms so that said thefts and salvaged stay off the record
  • A lot of sharp eyed viewers are noticing the discrepancies between star-fighter prices vs real life fighter prices. So we're going to explain where this is occurring, that video will be up this Sunday 10/23 so subscribe and stay tuned for that

Something people always forget is the cost if ownership. That's the money you have to spend on fuel, maintaining, and crew saleries.
  • Every family has a person who breaks the chain of poverty. I hope you will be that person!!
  • They should have valued it at 800 Million Credits. Those Stacks were huge.
  • I hope they explore how the rebellion got the x-wings. I know the comics already explained this but it would be cool to see it play out on the screen.
  • Figuring out the "worth" of a SW credit to Earth money is tricky. But saying the 80M credits could by X amount of fighters, or capital ships gives a proper perspective that it is a LOT. I think the battlegroup you put together really drives it home. Though your battlegroup only accounted for the procurement of vehicles (and a load of meat). Realistically, you'd need to reduce things a bit to devote money for equipment, personnel, supplies, maintenance, etc.
  • What an incredible episode! Sadly Nemik died. 😓 I am wondering if these credits can be tracked. Money in the U.S. has serial numbers that would allow stolen money to be tracked, but only if it was stolen from a bank. Considering that we're talking about an extremely 'high-tech' society and it wouldn't be difficult to put a 'chip' in each credit. Of course this is a movie and a TV series that we're discussing, but it popped into my mind.
  • @DeclanOReilly
One thing I did not see was rebel payroll, Cassian got 200k for the heist so there should be some way of estimating.
  • @TheFroneyZone
yep Disney just saved it's own ass...Andor made Star Wars relatable again and very EXCITING!!! I felt like as I was watching this that it was a real world secret rebel broadcast update about the Theft on Aldhani and how to use all those credits now lol (and thank you @GenerationTech for doing all this research!)
  • These quoted prices are very interesting. Civilian consumer goods have prices near equivalent to today's USD, but military equipment is priced like the 1950s (a modern F-16 is about $15-50 million depending on the model, but a Korean War F-86 Sabre would have been about $180,000 at the time).
