That’s right I crashed my brand new less an 100 miles ridden inmotion V11, and when people ask me, does it still turn on? I am like, does this answer your question? This just happen last weekend so I am going to talk about it this week while it’s still rest on my mind.

This week, how I destroyed my inMotion V11, what happen and why I think it happened and what I learned about riding an EUC as well as the V11. Are you ready for the gruesome details? Roll the intro!

If you enjoy this video please like and subscribe and hit that bell icon to be notified of new videos and stay to the end for a preview of what’s coming up next.

I have been loving my time with the V11, it is a smooth, surprisingly powerful, yet well mannered and likely the best appointed wheel on the market. It is neither the fastest, nor have the best suspension system. But yet there’s that indescribable sense of quality that you would get from a high end premium product, that made it not just enjoyable to ride, but live with.

Now I haven’t ridden it as much as I like in the past week because of the arrival of the king song s18. But with my initial impression out of the way, I figure it time to come back to the v11 and start testing it for my review.

It does take a bit of riding to acclimate to the V11 and its higher pedal position. But after spending some time Friday morning riding around down town picking up groceries, I felt sufficiently comfortable on it so I headed toward Queens to my parents.

I was on first avenue heading up town and as customary for anyone who finds them self on a suspension equipped electric unicycle I was hitting as many potholes as I can. Coming up to the 12th street intersection, there was giant sinkhole which I did avoid. Wouldn’t want to take a chance with my shiny new V11.

But I did aim for a smaller manhole cover just past the intersection. The suspension compressed and but some how pop me up higher than expected and when my weight comes back down, something was not right and all I felt was the back edges of the pedal before falling backward to land on my back and the last thing I saw just before my impact was the v11 veering left before smashing it self into the back end of a parked truck on the shoulder.

This was the pothole I skipped on, and I landed about a 3rd of the way up the block and the v11 rolled upright another 40-50 feet before hitting the side of the mail truck, at which point there was a sickening crunch, and by the time I got up it was already scattered a crossed the road.

  • Lesson for me: If someone with this much experience crashed this badly, gear is a MUST. Gear may be expensive but not nearly as much as my $7000 medical insurance deductible.
  • @2slice805
I’m happy you are completely in good health and didn’t loose a limb. Another classic video Bro, be safe and stay gear up
  • @illusiondrain
Ask the shops at that street if they have a camera video footage that shows the crush. At least you are fine and nobody else got hurt from the wheel, that’s what matters!
  • @NinjaKidz
Great vid! We are waiting to receive our V11 and S18 and excited to start learning to ride. This vid is helpful to prepare for possible issues.
  • @pouchy400
I believe you suffered from “rider float”. It’s almost the same theory as valve float in an engine. The sudden drop the rider and the euc encountered at different rate or the rider suffers from a delayed descend. Obviously, there was a point where there was a separation from the rider and machine which force the rider to float. which means the euc descended first before the rider did. At that high rate of speed , the euc may have landed and compressed at the inner manhole ring which may have cause the bottom half of the euc to slow down while the top half may have rotated forward changing the angle of the peddles. The rider’s center of mass is now behind his feet. In that position, he now lands or crashes into the euc misaligned , with most of his feet landing on some of the peddles, and then rolling / sliding.
  • That was an amazing amount of damage. And the tire! Oh well. So this was your personal wheel? I thought maybe it was a review wheel. And please let us know why it won't turn on. Good luck.
  • @tedraymundo9283
Glad you're okay. You're a trooper for making this very informative video. I think that tire played the biggest part in your accident. The way it was punctured almost looked like a blowout, but that would have made a big popping sound. Still, in all the videos I have seen of EUC crashes, I have never seen a tire that looked like that afterward. In fact, most of the time it is the tire that remains intact and undamaged more so than the shell and other components of the EUC. Anyway, stay safe, keep riding, and keep the videos coming. :)
  • @examancer
Scenario you didn't mention: failure of one of the two air shock chambers. A sudden pressure loss could have caused the behavior you encountered and loss of footing. Since both chambers were damaged in the crash it's possible the crash damaged covered up this failure. Do the shocks both still hold pressure with the damage shown? If they do that rules out my theory, but if not this may be worth considering. Thank you for sharing the good and the bad experiences with these amazing devices.
  • @chraosta
Glad ur okay brother, and still riding! keep up the quality content
  • @HeadRoaster
You keep saying you wasted 10 or 15 minutes of my life, but most of the time you've provided info that will save lots of time/cash.. absolutely not wasting time, IMHO -- thanks Hsiang!
  • @0xeb-
Glad you are safe. Interesting analysis.
  • @ThaBlackCobra
Oh wow.. I'm really sorry this happened to you bro and I hope you are able to rebuild it relatively easy. I will have mine by next Friday and I'm super excited to experience what you have already confirmed as being a fantastic ride on a well made wheel. I see I'd better not drop it though.... LOL
  • @macswanton9622
Great to see all your limbs intact! And no official involvement! Luckeee
  • @domatech
Great video as usual @Hsiang and glad your OK! I still want the V11!!!
  • @dajw
Great video, and excellent story Hsiang. I think I’ll ride the z10 tomorrow....love that wheel.
  • @mikaelhenhammar
Hmm very interesting ..I shall definitely start wearing more Tofu .. I knew it was good for something .
  • @oldretireddude
I would say the the tire rip is probably associated with the wheel spinning up at some point during the crash and snagging something on the truck.
  • @Bandtx
Damn, not a good week for the V11. First Marty's V11 overheated on it's way to overheat hill and wouldn't turn on and now Hsiang's V11 somehow crashed and turned into a hundred pieces after just one crash.
