Man, I love James Burton. I was so lucky to meet him one time as he was leaving a bowling alley in New Orleans. He was nice enough to stop and chat with me for a few minutes. What a guy. I hope to meet him again. Absolute legend

I don't think that one can overstate, or even state adequately at all, how influential James Burton is will continue to be to serious guitarists. The man is a living legend and a national treasure. On a personal note, thank you for being sponsored by guitars4vets. As one with PTSD myself, I can say that guitars DO help.
  • He toured with John Denver when JD came to Chile in 1985....met him...nice,humble and talented!!! Glad to see him so well👍
  • Great story, riding around Hollywood with Eddie Cochran on the back of James’ Triumph. Ricky and Gene Vincent cruising alongside.

Ran into James in front of the Memphis Marriott before the "Elvis Lives" concert in 2002. He was so gracious and down to earth.
  • James is 85 this year and incredibly well spoken and friendly man. When he played "Love Me Tender" solo a few years ago, I had Goose bumps. Like listening to an old friend again, you're my hero.
  • this man was responsible for influencing me to enjoy a lifetime playing guitar!

When James was on tour with Elvis Costello, he allowed me to hold the ring & necklace that You Elvis Presley gave him.

He is a beast: played the solo on Hello Mary Lou (Goodbye Heart), handpicked by Elvis as his touring guitarist, Invented Chicken Pickin', played lead on the early Merle Haggard songs like Mamma Tried, Lonesome Fugitive, etc. not to mention playing for likely thousands of artists, including the Jackson Five.

I was lucky enough to meet him at a gig 15 years ago. He's the original in many ways and is the greatest in all ways when it comes to rock and roll, country blues, country rock and tasteful inventive playing.
