There's an interesting quirk with Totebots. (Not sure if it works with Haybots, haven't tried.)
Leading Totebots out into the water, then diving until they stop chasing you, will cause them to become completely passive and wander endlessly towards the West.
They won't return to their normal behaviour unless they are unloaded and reloaded.
