Exactly what I needed right now… Dealing with a lot of stress and missing my mom who died recently. Might be able to catch some sleep after this. Thank you <3

LCD Soundsystem and Wristwatch Revival wasn't the crossover I expected, but it was the crossover I needed

"Luckily, I have a tool for that" If there ever was a perfect phrase for a watchmaker t-shirt. :D
  • Thank you so much for the shout out Marshall! I’m glad that my, let’s be honest, poorly produced videos compared to yours, can be of some help! I really should get working on another one. 😅 Great work on the Rolex!

I have no idea why, but these videos are incredibly therapeutic. Absolute legend!

Marshall I have a Seiko I would like for you to service. It’s a 4006 bell matic bought in 1969 in Japan as a gift to me from my brother. It is running and all original except for the crystal replaced in the 70’s. I’m 80 yrs old and want to get it serviced so I can give it to one of my sons or grandson. This is special watch for me and I don’t want to send to Seiko since I’ve seen only bad reviews. You’re one of the best craftsmen I’ve seen on YouTube and really want you to service the watch.
  • LCD Soundsystem is my favorite band and MTG is my favorite hobby, I wouldn't have expected this crossover.

Did anyone else think of that scene in Pulp Fiction with Christopher Walken, when Marshall first mentioned the watch had been on quite the journey to get to him? 😂
  • Haven't owned a watch in years, nor do I have any interest in watches. But yet, I find these videos fascinating!

What I love about watch repair and servicing is the fact the watch may look dishevled and dirty on the outside as old as it may be, but when you open it up it looks as clean and new as the day it was made!

That was cool seeing the timegrapher go from snowstorm to just about straight line! 💖

Shut Up and Play the Hits is one of my absolute favourite films, and the voiceover ofJames nervously saying to the crowd "I hope it's OK, I'm wearing- I'm wearing my dad's watch" right before the band launches into their last song has always stuck with me, so when I heard you say "James Murphy" my immediate thought was "wait, surely not that James Murphy?", and then when you confirmed, I could barely believe it. Hearing the full backstory of the watch makes me want to see the movie again.

I want to thank you Marshall. Because of your calm, collected, and thorough videos, I decided that this indeed can be done by even me. You inspired me to venture into the world of horology, and in the wee hours of this morning my first all original build was born. It has a Seiko NH36A heart beating inside a 40mm Sub style stainless steel case. With parts ordered from eBay, and your "anyone can do it" inspiration I now have a nice watch that is all my own. Thanks again, keep up the great work.
  • You are amazing! That hairspring repair blew my mind! You’ve become a master. You’re appreciated!

I love that you shout out Ashton, i got a watch serviced by him 2 years ago! Great guy very happy to be able to meet him in person! Very very knowledgeable!
  • @MikeGervasi
OMG. I was thinking "WHAT big star?". ...James Murphy. To me that's HUGE. Sounds of SIlver is a perfect album. Great repair.
  • Smashed it with this rebuild buddy. A 70 year old watch and shes working better than most when new

Hey Marshall! I just watched your podcast with James over at Humans of Magic, and I wanted to express my appreciation for your approach to this craft. Refusing lucrative sponsorship deals for the sake of preserving the purity of the content speaks volumes to your passion and integrity. I am in the process of watching all of your videos and will reach this one soon, but I wanted to comment here so you would likely see it. Thank you again for all that you have done for the watch/restoration space on YouTube, and the passion you’ve instilled in me to begin pursuing the watchmaking hobby!

As I'm watching this while my wife's night club is hosting LCD Soundsystem. They are doing an after party following their back to back to back sold out shows The Paramount in Seattle. I'm going to mention to him that I saw his watch on YouTube when I head to Monkey Loft in a few minutes. Small world. 😁
