Its crazy how a game made by one person became so popular that it is referenced in other media.

In coral island, there's a shop near the mines where you can buy items from the shopkeeper, a concerned monkey

9:19 Alternatively, the trash panda floating off with an umbrella could be another My Neighbor Totoro reference, and considering trash bear is close to Totoro's design and that there are already many ghibli references.

4:00 I think that the dolphin might be a reference to the gamecube, which was codenamed "dolphin" in development. That's also why the gamecube emulator is called dolphin.

Usually when you go to the Pirate's Cove and talk to the bartender, he says "Grog and tasties are for da pirates only". But if you put on the Deluxe Pirate Hat, he gives you a mead for free!

At 10:51, I meant to change the voiceover, as the Skeleton dialogue was patched out, and I replaced it with Pierre's out of bounds dialogue... but I forgot to change it.

If you marry Elliott, he also mentions grampletown in his 14th heart event letters

This might be far fetched but in the desert theres a long cactus that when interacted gives you the dialogue "This cactus is huge. knowing that the cactus will continue to grow fills you with assurance." which in my opinion at least seems like a pretty clear undertale reference.
  • 83: you forgot the most important villager to not go to the doctor once a year: you.

I had originally thought the trash bear was referencing Totoro since he does the same thing

The submarine joke 😭 I remember going to the night market right after it was announced they were missing and i felt so awkward while in the sub.

"I know what you're thinking. There are only 26 collectible eggs." Or I would think that, if I knew that before now. Learned something new today before the video started in earnest!

I think the hats on the urchins is more specifically a reference to that fact that people who keep pet sea urchins will often make fun little hats for their urchins to wear. I've seen pictures of an urchin wearing a viking helmet and another with a cowboy hat, for example. It's such a cool thing to have in real life.

Adding on to easter eggs in other games, in Starbound (which is also published by Chucklefish), if you can get ahold of any instrument, it lets you choose from a list of songs to play, and in that list is Stardew Valley's theme song.

In multiplayer, if you get more than one golden statue of Lewis and one of you place both/all of them in town, Lewis will yell at you and one of the statues will be gone. Later, one can be found in Marnie's bedroom.

8:30 Sam will not lose friendship if he sees you dig in the trash either. I found out through random dialogue it's because his father used to find interesting things in the trash when he was a garbage man.

As a Star Trek: TNG nerd, I am ashamed that I never thought to google what the rest of Wizard's introductory line was and see that it is, indeed, a reference to Deanna's mother. Dammit.

After pouring hundreds, if not thousands of hours into Stardew, and STILL learning things you didn't know before...that. That is a sign of a great game.

The "Granny" character in Totoro also tells the main girls when they move in next-door to call her granny. Also, I always thought that Mr. Qi is a reference to Q from Star Trek.
