I use dry pinto beans in the pressure cooker. I just like my beans from scratch. I'm not sure if y'all know this or not but if you're using your dry beans put them in the refrigerator the day before you're going to cook them. Put em in a bowl of water with a little bit of salt and let them soak a day. If you don't have a whole day 4 to 6 hours is good too. What this does is help that pressure cooker to really cook them fast fast. My beans are usually done anywhere from 17 to 20 minutes. The soaking method also helps the beans not to make you gassy.
  • You know, I think that if you create your own Rickey Smiley’s dry seasoning blends, many people will support it. I’m almost certain that it would sell well because people would be buying because they love the product as well as you! (Bet it would be perfect for winter crockpot cooking too!)
  • I do dry beans, with onions smoke turkeys wings AND cornbread AND ICE COLD tea

My moma is one of the best cooks I know. But the one thing that she has ALWAYS done is use canned LUCK'S pinto beans. Although they're outta the can, she still cooks them slow & on low. She usually adds whole okra & a leftover ham bone or if not, smoked ham hocks or smoked turkey necks. Another thing she likes to cook with Luck's pintos are pig ears or feet & white rice. It just goes together from some reason. That juice from the beans over that rice puts you in the mind of red beans & rice & sometimes she'll use black-eyed peas or field peas instead of the pintos & it's just as good. Another thing she made us growing up was Luck's pintos and ground beef. I used to love eating pork-n-beans & weenies but sometimes she make me the pintos & hamburger meat instead. Try everything out that I just mentioned & you'll thank me later....I promise. Especially the pintos & ground beef because if you have kids, this will feed a lot & everyone will get full.
  • β€œYou can use a crock pot but it’ll take you TWO WEEKS!” #Hilarious πŸ˜‚πŸ€£πŸ˜‚ Thanks for sharing your recipe Rick

  • Thanks Ricky! I'm having rice and hot water cornbread when I make itπŸ˜‹
  • I guess canned beans are a quick way to serve beans, but I'm from New Orleans and my grandmother would never. My mother would never, and I also would never lol. That's one of the foods that I always cook from scratch. Especially if you have a pressure cooker it won't take that long. I just cook mine on a day where I can just slow cook them.
  • Hey πŸ‘‹πŸ» Rickey!! You don't look crazy to me! You look wonderful! Thank you for the step by step recipe for your Pinto Beans πŸ™πŸ» I'm definitely going to try this.. I use shears for everything... Especially scallions... Sausage or anything that can handle them... Kielbasa Sausage is my favorite. They save time!!

I made these pintos to the tee on Sunday morning, I saved some of the broth for future turkey dressing, but honestly best I've ever had and made. Shredding the turkey meat and adding the sausage just makes it a complete meal. Thanks Rickey
