Our 7 month old Normal size chicken has started laying a very large egg with another egg inside it.

She has done this a couple of times in the past week, she does not seem to be harmed by this.

Both eggs have normal yolk's and taste normal.

I read the title wrong. I thought it was gonna be a chick inside the egg laying another egg... Edit: thanks for all the likes...i wasn't expecting anyone agree with me
  • FOR ALL OF YOU WHO SAY THIS IS FAKE ITS NOT IT HAS HAPPENED TO MY CHICKEN BEFORE!!! And for all the people who say this is cruel and the babies died and what not there were no babies the egg wasn’t fertilized

I thought double egg yolks was impresive but this way more impresive

This is completely possible, likewise with double yolkers, it’s just a hiccup in the hens’ laying system, they’re usually hybrid breeds and should not be bred from. This happens when an egg is not ready to be laid but another egg is already being put together while it’s ‘waiting’. If this egg were fertile and was incubated, nothing alive would come out of that egg, in the first egg, there is simply not enough room. Anything in the second egg would have suffocated as chicks only have the strength to pip and zip one egg. Please note: he did not kill anything! Fertile eggs need to be incubated for three days before the heart forms and starts to beat. There is nothing wrong or immoral with consuming a fertile egg. Edit: I’m not a scientist or a vet. I just love chickens and biology 😁

This happens when a hen don't lay her egg on the right time and she made another one

Imagine if that egg(s) where fertilized.... How TF would the baby's like live?
